The Beatles countdown.... What next?
Posted by: FangfossFlyer on 12 September 2015
From The Beatles website, what next I wonder?
Maybe some sort of 1 video collection? Unless they've got Sean Magee to go back to the analogue stereo tapes to produce an all-analogue LP version?
Your prompt Kevin-W made me remember reading this article which was posted last Nov http://www.analogplanet.com/co...#pfFfOBK9iMHmHGjr.97
I love the Beatles, but I think at this point they are really beating a dead pony...
However they could release the "Let It Be" movie DVD, but my understanding is that Macca won't allow it.
I must be the only one here that does not give a toss if the Beatles' or what's left of them, ever release anything ever again - old or new!
Wat,
I have every Beatles album. I just don't see what they can release that would have that "wow" effect that is not already out there.
I agree Tony. There is nothing left. It's all been sifted through as much as it can be. The Anthology series pretty much was the last of anything of interest.
Unless they have tape of John and Yoko farting in the bath tub...
I got the link noted by FF in an email, found it annoying, especially given its associated hashtag, and deleted it. Too much coming out from the Beatle's camp lately AFAIC. Happily, I never bit on the digital on vinyl stereo remasters, though I may yet buy the all analog mono vinyl set.
I agree that the Anthology series had much to offer for the Beatle's enthusiast. That was 20 years ago. The Beatle's Rockband had some mixes and snippets of studio dialog I found intriguing. An official release of the film "Let It Be" on DVD would be nice, though as stated, Macca seems opposed to it due to the bickering. And there's countless bootlegs of the entire studio (camera A or B) or rooftop proceedings already available for download for those interested.
That said, I'd be up for an in-depth Anthology that provides more insight into song development and related studio dialog. Anything else seems merely re-packaging as this latest "announcement" seems.
The most important thing in Beatles world would be the next volume of Lewisohn's All These Years which will hopefully be released for 2016.
It was the Beatles hype in 87 that got me to buy a CD player. (There was no going back after this commitment. Was my first venture into hi-fi separates. A mistake I know, I made the same error with buying a Sega rather than a Nintendo.) However i am tempted 28 years later to buy a TT just so I can listen to the AAA Beatles. The Mono CD release was mind-blowing for me.
Agreed Moog - I just received my copy of Vol 1 and it is in 3rd position in my book stack to be read...might bump its way to #2.
What is funny is that things like #1s and Love Songs are, IMHO, strictly for Beatles "amateurs" - I don't own them because everything there I already possess, many in multiple forms.
If it serves to introduce a new generation to the group that is fine, but for the most part it is approaching the ridiculous stage of repackaging the same thing in different ways.
Anyone interested?

Graham.
Maybe they've added more to the site since some of you posted, but obviously it's a DVD of sonically and visually restored videos, including videos from (of?) 27 of their no. 1 hits.
I'm certainly interested, as I was just a bit too young to have seen this stuff the first time around. And the quality of the video seems, at least from the online trailer, to be excellent. It's probably a Christmas present for my wife, who was in her youth (and still is) a huge Beatles fan.
"a 2LP 180g vinyl package will follow"
I haven't found a clear statement on whether the stereo remixes will be hi res.
Keith
I've not done my homework -- are these different versions of the audio versus the 2009 remasters (e.g. from the Beatles USB)?

Hi Bart,
Mark Ellen "who I understand has been involved in this project" writing in this mornings [Times] states:
"The [music] too has been has been further enhanced. Giles Martin and Abbey Road engineer Sam Okell have created "new" mixes inspired by both the original stereo versions and the mono versions the boys were more involved in.
Regards Graham.

I have the vinyl from when it was first issued. Most of the tracks are on other albums, like the '70s Blue and Red albums so I won't waste my money on these.
Steve,
I've got all kinds of Beatles stuff as well, and hear what you're saying, but this release may have more to do with the video than the sound. The CD and vinyl seem more targeted to recent Beatles enthusiasts. Here's a link to what's been done with the video side, and it looks pretty cool to me

While I'm sure the sound of this release will differ slightly from the original, I think it's good to get the performance footage archived in a high quality format, as I believe the Beatles as artists will hold intrigue long into the future. The DVD might be the real gem of this package.

If they produced this 2LP package in the style of the George & Giles remaster of the Love album, it would sell like crazy.

I am with Joe - if I were to buy this it would strictly be for the video as opposed to the audio.

“These videos and films are spectacular reminders of the era we lived in,” says Paul McCartney of the films. “They also rock!”

I am well up for this, mostly for the videos, so will be getting the Blu-ray. The Fabs are almost as good to watch as they are to listen to.
i kind of liked the old scratchy videos.
nice job on the restoration though.
The Hey Bulldog video is a definite draw for me - one of their best and most overlooked/underrated tunes IMHO.
I was going to embed it but apparently YouTube has pulled them all (perhaps because of this impending release?) There used to be a number of them out there.
F-bomb YouTube - definitely not as good once Google got their mitts on it.
