Can someone explain....

When the muso plays music off a usb stick it only plays one album (folder) at a time. It will only play "shuffle" within that folder only and will not shuffle with the other albums (folders) on the stick. So i thought i would get round it by putting hundreds of tracks on the stick and could shuffle with the tracks on it, so it could play for hours. But it does not work, it just tries to read the stick but nothing. When i put the same stick on a JVC boomblaster it plays it fine. Can someone explain why the muso won't play it ?

I can't give the definitive answer on mu-so, but to keep you thinking until someone does, the limit on the number of files in the root directory, depending on the operating system can be as low as 512. You may find it works if you put your hundreds of files within a directory rather than at the top level in the USB stick. So delete everything on your USB stick, make a directory called music and put the files inside that. It may work in your boomblaster at the moment because that uses a different operating system.

So I would put 100 files in a directory called music or whatever and see if that works.  If so, double it and so on.  Tell us here when it breaks!

Maybe someone has a better explanation Or suggestion?

David, there was different file formats on the stick and to keep them all the same i deleted WAV and OPUS (?) files and it seems to have done the trick. Whether it was deleting those files or slightly reducing the tracks, i'm not sure but it plays now. Thanks for your help.

Well I'm glad you sorted it.  I haven't met OPUS files before but Wikipedia explains what they are. It's a lossy format, so probably best deleted in a Naim context At least!
