Bob Dylan: 1965-1966 The Cutting Edge (Bootleg Series Vol 12) due to be released.

I for one will be looking forward to the vinyl set

"The next installment of the Bootleg Series takes you inside the studio during the recording of Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. With a staggering wealth of unreleased songs, outtakes, rehearsals and alternate versions - The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series Volume 12 provides a unique insight into Bob Dylan's creative process"

There is a special collectors limited edition (5000 copies) available at approx $600 - 18 CDs and 379 tracks. It will be very interesting to see what they come up with for this.  Apparently contains all of the sessions, so false starts etc

I guess that this is going to be way too expensive for the majority if fans (even if they could get a copy).

There are some track listings available via Dylan's website if you go to the' buy now'.

It doesn't look as though there are any new songs, although there are plenty of takes that haven't circulated before - including Mr Tambourine Man with backing band.

This will be very interesting (good). The last two volumes of the "bootleg series" have been quite disappointing IMO.

Interesting, available to preorder from Amazon - tracking listing on the delux set is very bizarre.....

lp vinyl  is £70 so not cheap.......

£70 sounds like a bargain for a unique insight into the greatest trilogy of albums in the history of rock.....and you get the 2CD's included, must be Christmas.

In fact if the 18 CD collectors edition isn't available on the NHS, I'll be very disappointed.

I've had a look at the deluxe CD package. CD3 is made up of 20 cuts of 'Like A Rolling Stone'. How many do you need? Having the original albums I think I just try the basic 2CD.

Vinyl for me!

Vinyl here and did someone say it comes with CDs? I was really surprised when I bough one of the late albums and the CD slipped out, first time i saw that years back.

Nice Christmas gift por moi! I've never had those first 2 albums.

Someone has started a new thread with a cheap price on Amazon Spain for the LP version. I am not sure if there is postage on top, but if so it is unlikely to be cheaper than base.com where I have pre-ordered. Good price too at What Records.

Looks like a reasonable price.

Thanks Clive. The What Records price is similar to base.com but postage isn't free with what Records as it is with base.com.

Can you have too many versions of this song? I think that 18 or so studio takes (many incomplete) from 1965 session have been circulating amongst collectors for quite a long time.

I'm looking forward the solo piano version of She's Your Lover Now. Hopefully this will be from the master tape rather than the Goldmine Acetate which has the piano too far down in the mix.

The triple lp and double cd look the way to go for me.

oh, it's just fantastic! i went straight for outlaw blues and obviously five believers and shit my pants.

Posted on: 06 November 2015 by Bertie Norman

I went straight to the versions of She's Your lover Now, which is one of my top 10 Dylan songs - truly incredible. Then back to a more methodical approach and I'm up to cd 4 out of 6 and whilst there is quite a lot of material that has circulated before there is so much that is new and just amazing to listen to. This is the stuff that collectors dreamt about.

I do think, on the basis of what I've heard so far, that the right decisions were reached on which versions made the original albums.

Absolutely stunning... a real insight... and once again shows me that Dylan was light years ahead of everybody else out there!

I just love it!

Sorry to go on about this but I am in shock.... as I thought wow I must get the 18 CD set of "Every note recorded by Bob Dylan in the studio in 1965/1966" but I would have to buy a CD player!

Richard, I've just been on bobylan.com and it appears that there are still copies for sale. In one way this surprises me as 5000 copies world wide is not a huge quantity but $500 is a lot of money.

I would love the full edition but just can't justify spending that much on a box set (albeit of the greatest music ever recorded).

Richard - no need for the cd player - the 18cd set includes a link to download a hi res version of the 18 cds.

Posted on: 06 November 2015 by FangfossFlyer

Yeah $500 is a lot of money esp. when I have nothing to play them on except my car CD player and my lap top.

I have to confess I am now playing the downloads that came with the LP through my lap top using Airplay into a B&O Zeppelin in the kitchen so I am not quite stuck in the vinyl dark ages.....

How big is the 6 CD box set? Is it CD or LP size? I ask as the book that accompanies the vinyl box set is awesome. Considering that the 3LP set also comes with two CDs it's very good value at the £52 compared the the 6 CD box at £99, especially if it comes in a small box.

TBH the music covered on the vinyl set is more than enough for me. I especially like the alternate arrangement of Visions of Johanna.

I'm listening to the 24 bit download from HDTracks, and it is stunning. 111 (or is it 112) tracks including several versions of songs you thought had already been done to death. How am I supposed to to be a able to go to bed??
