Screen Burn with Unitiqute?

Posted by: Steven Shaw on 23 April 2011

I,m not sure of the technology used for the screen on the unitqute, but will leaving it on permanently cause any kind of screen burn or fading?

I ask because my previous cd player has been left on continuously for about 15 years and the screen is barely visible now.

Why would you leave it on Steven? Mine disappears after 2 minutes. If a song comes on Radio Paradise and I want to know who it is by then I just hit the 'display' button on the remote.

So I don't know the answer to your question.

Regards

in fifteen years i plan on having audio transmitted directly to implants in y ears which use body heat to re-generate power.

or by then i would have been taken ill with a case of upgrade-itis.

Fair point. I don't honestly still expect to be using the unitiqute much beyond about 2 years, afterwhich time I should hopefully have bought a pre/power amp and NDX.

I really like the nice green display when listening late night in a dark room. If I knew there was no danger of damage I would just leave it on.

The Naim logo stays on regardless of what is happening on the screen. And don't think of the Qute as lightweight - it is my system.

The behaviour of the display and the Naim logo are configurable in the Qute setup menu under Front Display. You can for example have the logo always on/off or off when muted or off when the display is off.
