Track Sequencing

Posted by: funkyand3 on 26 April 2011

As a new NDX owner I am just getting to grips with the nStream software on the iPad. Now, am I missing something or are my tracks not listed or played in order.

Can nStream not read flac track numbers? Do I have prefix all my tracks with the track number? Surely not, I haven't had to do that since my first Creative mp3 player over 10 years ago. Is this an issue with flac or nStream? Are there any apps out there which play alums in order?

Also, can nStream play more than one album at once on shuffle mode? Or maybe a an entire genre on random play?

The NDX sounds great, but appears let down a little by the software. Are there updates on the way to added much needed functionality?

Hi,

In the world of UPnP it is the server not the client that determines the order of albums as they appear in the browse list. Which UPnP server are you using and how are your FLAC files tagged?

n-Stream can play a folder, press and hold the item you want to play and select "Play now".

To shuffle the item you have just chosen to play go to the now playing screen, tap the middle of the screen to show the drop down and switch on shuffle.

My error was to use the folder route. This due to my not wanting to mix my flac files with my mp3s. My error. Thanks for your help.

FYI I am using twonky and rip my CDs using EAC. Is that a decent way to go?

Thanks again.

Twonky and EAC should do the trick. While Twonky is less 'fancy' than some UPnP servers it seems pretty fast and robust. As for ripping, as long as EAC does a decent job of tagging the FLAC files Twonky will be happy. Another option for ripping to FLACs is to use dbpoweramp.

Thanks for that.
