Okay, so shopping for a remote leads to buying a new cheapo Blu-Ray player at Best Buy ($150 Sony).
Which leads to playing Ringo & His All Starr Band Live, 2006. It's been a while since I've experienced this.
Congrats to Ringo for bringing this eclectic mix together.
Rod Argent is just plain brilliant on keyboards, and man, did he pen some great songs.
Edgar Winter? Wow, is this guy a musician, or what? Frankenstein was brilliant.
Sheila E was really refreshing on the drums, Richard Marx brought a different perspective, Hamish Stuart so steady on bass, and always liked Bill Squier's contribution to rock and roll. Once again, amazing when you bring a variety of musicians together. Who knows what reverberations will result!

Yes. I hear you. From the comfort of my home, via Sony, Technics, n-Sats, and three 6.5% beers, you could practically taste Sheila E. Er, I mean, it was so satisfying. The next best thing to being there.

Yes . . . .just about to post a new topic when I saw your's Hawk. The 2011 All-Star Band edition looks really, very good! Hope you don't mind if I add to it by asking . . . is anyone going to see Ringo this year??? Anyone watch the broadcast on BBC last month?
If he were in the US, I would definitely go see him . . . McCartney as well. These guys were part of a very special rock/pop group that changed music making, and the culture. I want to see them live while I still may.

Max, it looks like a European tour this time. The line-up seems a bit disappointing to me. Gary Wright will be in the lineup, he's an interesting chap. Heard him with Alan Parsons, Jack Bruce, Mark Farner, Christopher Cross, and Todd Rundgren a few years back. Each artist played 3 songs from his repertoire, then they did some Beatles songs together. It's not every day you get to hear Jack Bruce or Alan Parsons. Enjoyed it immensely. Back in 2001 saw Brian Wilson open for Paul Simon. Outdoors in an amphitheatre. Like hearing the Beach Boys again. Then Simon put in 2 solid hours. Which reminds me, tomorrow night my wife and sister are sitting in the first row at Simons concert. While I babysit the Yorkies.
My point about this is that, whether it's Ringo's bands, or a tribute to the Beatles, it's a treat to hear these guys, even when they're getting old. I know there's a lot of great music today, but still, it's the end of an era. For me, there's classical, then there's the classic pop/rock era. Everything from Buddy Holly to Nirvana, and even some rap. A real privilege to have lived through and experienced this era. After that, I can't listen to much new pop or rock. The only new stuff I listen to would be jazz and female vocals.
