Front firing sub woofers

Can i ask those of you that have front firing subs, how many people face them towards the wall away from them where they sit. Some people say that there can be a tighter base. Any views or opions appreciated or even anyone that does this...many thanks.

Would you consider the nSUB to be front-firing?  I use mine as recommended by Naim - with the driver facing the wall.

I have two MK-350 subs used naim six pack and AV2 and DVD5 and yesterday i moved one sub from one side of the room and stacked it on top of the other (the manual even recomends this). They are now in the corner next to the left stereo speaker and if i pointed them into the room they would be difficult to adjust and even turn off and the fact that the things are quite heavy. The sound is a lot more powerful from when the other sub was next to the right stereo speaker (not in a corner), even the anti-mode 8033 was having difficulty bringing that one in.

If you've a reasonably big room, two subs are considerably better than one, and two small subs are better than one big one.

With suitable  positioning you get a more even bass response, and can more easily avoid nasites, e.g. unpleasant resonances at certain frequencies.

The downside, apart from having two ugly boxes to accommodate rather than one, is that it takes longer to set up a dual-sub arrangement properly.

I use an old REL sub, in my HT system, per the manufacturer's recommendation.  it's front-firing, and faces the wall. it's 12 inch, sealed box, and the wall is well-braced.  I think it's pretty tight.

it'll just have to do until I can afford an n-Sub!
