Tidal next week..

Posted by: Fueller on 29 September 2015

So Tidal has now been announced for Naim Streamers / Muso to the delight of many here I'm sure.

This wasn't a necessity for me but I'd be silly not to take advantage of the 3 month free trial and potentially cancel the spotify sub.

Thoughts?

Nobody has "jumped the gun". It was a official download from music-line.biz. So, come down from your high horse...

Hi Graeme,

Should be linked to from the Tidal news story and also from all the product pages and on the updates page.

Cheers

It's not linked from the product pages, or wasn't 30 seconds ago.

That's another discussion but it shouldn't have been live at that time ... it should have been tied in with *OUR* live release because the codebase wasn't absolutely final.

There were a number of people who did "jump the gun" however using information posted on the forum about modifying the link to the live 4.3 updater to give access to unpublished 4.4 updaters early before the official release...

e.g. (from above)

No, it isn't. But it is linked from the Tidal news story http://bit.ly/naim-tidal

Thanks Graeme - I was just letting Phil know. I initially looked at the product pages, which is where I'd expect to find the updates, rather than looking in Connection.

Seems to be under "Manuals and Downloads" for the streaming products I've looked at...

No need to get so serious 'DOH' I was paying Phil a compliment.

In my eyes in light of Phil's post (above) there were IMO some gun jumpers.....

Right I'm off to download the software.

I think the webpages are still updating, it's there for the SU but not the 272.

I usually get my updates from https://www.naimaudio.com/updates and it's still giving 4.3 there. But I got it OK from the Tidal news page.

Having been one of those on the naughty step from this morning I have now downloaded and updated again and seem to have Qobuz and Deezer Elite as well as TIDAL on my NDS. Is this something to do with this mornings illicit file?

Wow, really? I've got pound coins pouring of my 272's USB socket.

That one (the updates page) should be the last one to update as it filters through the site automatically on the other pages but it's a manual update on the Upgrades page...

All there now!

Up and running in a good 30 min. Flawless. Super! (NAC272/NAP250)
Thank you Phil / Naim for the 90 days of Tidal Hifi.

OK that was easy. 20 minutes tops for my 172xs, and I'm now listening to Julia Holter's new album on Tidal very happily. And the app integration is excellent.

First impressions are that it's very similar to NAS playback. If I play the same track, one on NAS and one on Tidal, I have a faint preference for the NAS version, but in isolation I'm sure I couldn't tell. The difference may be down to my transcoding to WAV from the NAS, so it may actually be more to do with FLAC versus WAV than the source.

Flawless so far!

Well that was probably the shortest subscription to the service. I don't really like these streaming services, especially when presented with playlists that mean less than nothing to me (FIFA and the Papal Visit 2015, FFS!).

Subscription cancelled.

Over-hyped and over here.

Sorry that you didn't like Tidal - I presume that you actually hit the 'search' button and had a hunt for some music rather than just using the pre-defined playlists?

@Nick

Well, there's nothing like giving things a fair crack, is there?

Hi Phil, I cannot login to Tidal, could you help. I have posted in other discussion my problem, I do not know what to do.
