10 years of this Naim game

Posted by: rackkit on 08 October 2015

Crikey, where did that go! Just realised i bought my first Naim kit back in May 2005 - a brand new unopened CDX2 from a guy who needed to sell ASAP as his upcoming wedding costs were spiralling out of control but saved me a small fortune on the price of a new machine!

Followed that up with Allaes, 282, HiCap - SC2, 250.2, XPS2, HighLine,PoweLine x 2, Stageline N and Fraim to add to my old Linn Axis TT (from my original Cyrus 2/PSX, Linn Helix system)

That first Naim set up was a great system but the only thing left from it now is the Fraim equipment support and PowerLines.

Current set now Rega Isis, Rega P9/Apheta/IOS, 252/SC2, 300.

AV was also added over the last 5 years, AV2, 200/145 (prev 150, 175), n-Sub, Axess (prev n-Cent), n-Sats.

So that's 10 years and lots of changes, the only constant being that it was one Naim box for another - haha!

Wonder what it'll look like in another 10 years time...

1989, Nait 1 for my new LP12.   Cost me £85.00 (!) second hand.  Still great and money well invested.

I did start with a Linn Axis/K9, Cyrus 2/PSX, Linn Helix in 89. Even when i'd hear of it, Naim was a distant dream for the years in between. TBH, i never saw myself getting on the wagon but never say never eh?

33 years.

Bought a 42.5/110 from Billy Vee.

Over the next couple of years ended up with LP12/Ittock/Karma, 32.5/Hicap/250, and Kans.

Since then moved in other directions - but keep a foot in the Naim camp, couldn't bare to sell my 250s, so use them for AV duties, with a 140 in the loft for emergencies .....together with the Kans; couldn't sell them, be like selling family.

The Naim that I use actively in my system today: Aro / Geddon and NS01.

Coming up on 35 years. Bought a 42/110 from Brady's in Liverpool in November 1980.

Haven't actually bought any Naim gear since I got my CDS II in 1999. Still using the olive gear and SBLs I bought in the 1990s.
