Disappointed
Posted by: Tommy Gander on 08 October 2015
As a Mu-so owner, I have to express my disappointment with regards to the lack of communication regarding the latest firmware upgrade.
I was sent an email to say that the new firmware would be available on the 6th October, but have heard nothing since.
It does feel a bit like Mu-so owners are the s**t on Naim's heel considering the attention given to the 4.4 upgrade for (presumably) their more higher-end products.
Prove me wrong Naim, and just let us Mu-so users know what's going on!
If you read the official Naim statement:

you will find all the answers you need !
You were given the reason for the delay in your other Muso firmware thread yesterday.

Yes, I read it after being directed to it by a forum member. A dedicated thread wouldn't go a miss, just to keep us informed of the latest developments.
I'm happy to wait if my expectations are satiated.
Tommy,
you also have a communication directly from Naim's MD to apologise to Mu-So owners for the delay;

Thang yew!
Not sure what exactly is the best way to communicate firmware updates. Coincidentally, last night I happened to go into the Apps application on my iPad and noticed an update for my B&W A7 (I also have a Muso) Control app. Once I updated the Control App for my A7, which I never use as, like the Muso, it is selected and driven simply from the iPad or apps like Spotify, I executed the B&W A7 Control app itself and that actually loaded and applied the firmware update. I believe this forum is not 'owned' by Naim but they do use it to communicate to their customers. Perhaps the only satisfactory solution is via the company website, Naim in this case.
Patience.
While this thread does seem like needless public mithering that could have been avoided with a call or mail to Naim, it highlights an issue that Naim would do well to address: how to keep people informed of what is going on.
I'm sure most Naim owners never look at the Forum, so I'd agree with Andarkian that something should be on the main website. Even if there, latest news can be hard to find amongst the promotion of Bentley and Statement, so I'd suggest that a bit of attention to the basic communications would not go amiss; after all an easy to find communication will remove the phone calls and mails and allow the happy band at Salisbury to focus on other things.

An email list would work well. Synology email registered owners to tell them about firmware updates . . . Naim could do the same at relatively little expense.
I have to imagine that there is a huge group of Naim owners who do not know of Spotify much less Tidal integration.
I suspect there is a huge group of Naim users who don't even know of the concept of firmware upgrades, let alone would contemplate doing one.
