Streaming from iMac to Uniti

Posted by: alexthibault75 on 11 October 2015

Hello everybody,

I definitely do not understand why Naim does not offer a proper streaming software for Windows/iMac.

I am not able to find one streaming software which would be free (if possible) and easy to use to stream my music (Flac, etc.) from my iMac to my Naim Uniti.

If you know one I am aware !!!

Thank you.

Hi Alex,

MinimServer has a version that installs and runs on OS X; I highly suggest you try that. It's free but you may want to donate if you keep it.  You might try JRiver as well.  JRiver is not free, but $50.00 within the total cost of your system is rather minimal.

Why don't Naim offer such software?  Because they offer other solutions (such as their own servers) . . . and because others like Minim give it away for free already . . . others like JRiver offer very effective and robust solutions . . . there may be other reasons.

Hi there,

Finally I bought Asset UPnP, wich does exactly what I want : put my music available from my iMac to my Naim Uniti.

MinimServer was not able to find my music which is not exactly on my iMac but on a external hard disk...

JRiver was too complicated and too expensive and I was not sure to find the way to use it properly as a "streamer".

Thank you.
