Naim Forum - I'm a Bit Addicted

Posted by: nigelb on 12 October 2015

I have noticed I am spending more and more time on THE forum. My wife tells me I'm becoming a nerd, but I disagree.

I think the forum has changed in recent times. What I mean is that the forum used to be a bit nerdy and a bit (well quite) technical and maybe put a few of us mortals off.

What I really like about the forum these days is that it is still very informative of all things Naim but it is also less technical and focusses on what we all want out of kit and that is the sheer enjoyment of music in our own homes. It is also amusing and does not (or rather the contributors do not) take our hobby too seriously. When someone less experienced has a problem or asks a basic question there is no ridicule, there is no teasing, just genuine helpful advice.

I have learnt so much from this place and have enjoyed some wonderful musings and interchanges between clearly intelligent, experienced and humorous individuals who's only relationship is a common interest in a hifi brand.

Bonkers - but I love it.

Night night

Thinking about this post, maybe it should be in the Padded Cell. Mr Moderator - please feel free to move it.

Yours,

Tired and emotional of Chesham!

You have arrived at the first stage of nerdiness - avoidance of reality.... :-)

I also like the forum a lot. Mostly because of the opportunity to exchange on music / new music, but a good discussion about new toys is also every now and then good.....

please watch that you are not getting to the final stage where you can use "insider" language in multiple combinations (see also the thread on numbers).

I miss the Forum from the mid to late 1990's. It's never been the same since.

Tired and Emotional of Chesham  ----  one of my old stomping grounds,  good music scene in the late 1960's, Crown at Amersham, a pub (can't remember name) in Chesham had Sunday night folk, Friday night blues at the Nags Head, High Wycombe,  Holmer Green (regular drop-in was Rick Wakeman)

I think you made good tongue in cheek'ish summary of how it can on the forum,  nothing nerdie about any of that,  if it rocks your boat,  rock on dude !!!

If you want nerd'ish, you need to dip your toe into birder forums.

Nothing is ever as good as it used to be.
