Nat01 or Nat05

I am contemplating purchasing a tuner, which is likely to be my last given the expected switch off of FM in the uk at some unspecified point. I would like the last one to be a good one. A newish nat05 and a Nat01 are around the same price, any views on which to go for? Aesthetics don't come into it so sound quality only

Yes HH - naturalness and ease would be the way I would describe the NAT03 over the HDX on Radio 3. The other stations sound pretty rubbish as they are only low rate MP3's at the moment.

I'll keep an eye out for a NAT02 but what attracts me to the 05XS is that it will be supported by Naim (and also should need no attention) right up until the switch over - e.g. next ten years. I'm not sure how long Naim will be able to do this for some components in the older sets.

Oh, and it matches the style of the rest of my kit albeit the NAT03 looks pretty cool in all its glowing green.

my 01 is at Naim right now for service and i am using an 02 from a second system. although i can tell slightly less finessed and not as deep as the 01, this is an absolutely fantastic radio.

enjoy

HLS in HD is pretty good when compared to casual R2 & R4 daytime, it does lag behind R3 especially for live broadcasts.   The best BBC is FM & Naim NAT05 is good place to be IMO with the current range, but how we all wish for an 01 comparable.

But compared to other 320k web radio, HLS  is as good as web radio is at the moment

+1 I think the BBC HLS streams are about as good as iRadio gets - but FM, even on my Superuniti running off a T into the TV aerial, is clearly much better.
