BBC Radio keeps dropping out

Posted by: NeilF on 26 October 2015

I'm trying to listen to BBC Radio Scotland on my Unitilite. It's the 339k HLS version and sounds great. Except that it only seems to last a couple of minutes before dropping out. Sometimes it restarts after a few seconds, other times it needs me to hit the "play" button before it starts again.

It's not my wifi connection - it's rock solid when I'm streaming from my NAS. I thought it was my internet connection, so complained to Virgin and they sent me a new modem. The new modem is a complete wireless hub so I've removed my old hub and I'm running straight off the Virgin box. Broadband speed was showing as 70Mb/s when I checked immediately after the last dropout. It's never gone below 15Mb/s since I got the new hub so speed isn't the issue. So what is? I seem to have spent a couple of thousand pounds to get a radio that is virtually unlistenable.

I've been experiencing frequent dropouts on 6music of late, varying  a few minutes to maybe an hour. Using tidal is rock solid for me, so it isn't my internet connection

anyone else?

Tried a wired connection to the router this morning and currently I've been on Radio 6 for half an hour with no dropouts at all. Tidal seemed solid too. Anyone got any ideas as to why the wireless connection can work perfectly for Flac from my NAS but not for a much lower bitrate radio station?

My system is only about 5m from the router, but when I first got a Naim streamer internet radio would not work properly, yet streamed music was fine. Once connected with a wire, everything is fine. As you say, it does seem odd.
