New NAP300DR - rant
Posted by: Zeny on 30 October 2015
I have contacted my dealer who promised to rectify the matter urgently but as I'm not in the UK it will probably be a couple of weeks before I can fire up the power amp. This is ridiculous for a 10,000 euro power amp.
I see they deleted your other 'funny' post last night. Perhaps the message hasn't yet sunk in...
For me this thread is a reminder of why I never usually read (or indeed contribute) to the HiFi part of the Forum. Too much obsession with kit, too little music (and indeed perspective) for my taste.
Sorry if my post at the outset only stirred the fire.
I hope Zeny is happy with his stuff when it arrives. I'm sure he will let you know. Personally I will look away now!

Totally agree with you Bruce. What was a simple error by Naim put right by sending them over by courier turns into an almost a devotional display of fanatasim where Badlands is called to apologise...what is this place some sort of church where debate and free speech is stifled.
Fanastism sums this place up.I thought it was all about the music....but only Naim plays music .
Naim seems to be heading in a questionable direction, after an administrator and an employee of Naim made reference to a reply and a member of this forum was referred to a very demeaning and insulting name, after spending several thousands of dollars on their equipment, and seeing first hand this kind of disrespect towards a customer they will never see another dollar from me!
I must have missed this. I have only seen Richard Dane respond with concern and assistance. Where are these posts?
The posts were removed and not even so much as an apology from the administrator. Very sad! Don't think Julian would be very proud of these actions.
Ummmm...I missed this.
Would it be too much to ask the Moderators for an explanation as this apparent lapse is out there?
I think I missed this too..
Badlands, you're angry about what you consider to be a disrespect shown by me towards a customer. I'm not aware of any such disrespect (either demeaning or insulting) so, please could you tell me what has made you feel this way. If you prefer to do this by email rather than in public, then by all means please do so by emailing Naim for my attention.
p.s. As far as I can recall, no posts have been removed by me from this thread. Post removal or editing is only done by me where offensive language is used or forum rules are broken.
Richard, I never thought for a moment you would be the subject of Badlands grievance. I have not seen any demeaning or insulting language on this post. Some strong feelings yes, but it is of course possible A.N.Other had posted in anger and has quickly thought better of it and taken it down.
I was indeed surprised at Badlands post as I have always found all Naim staff I have dealt with as extremely helpful, courteous and professional.

I can still see it, at least the one I think you are referring to. I would be sad if Naim were to come down 'that' hard on free expression.

It's been move to the Padded Cell.

Where, to be fair, it belongs. Totally appropriate for the moderator to move this thread and no one has deleted anything. Freedom of speech is safe!
Hope there's a happy ending ![]()
Richard, tell me how to contact you and I would be more than happy to discuss what has been written, as for analogmusic comments, you should refrain from making accusations until you get all the facts!!!!
Badlands, I have e-mailed you today.
I would just like to exonerate badlands of any accusations of malicious intent with regard to her earlier post here. It was made with regard to a word that was considered insulting and used in a post by someone who is currently neither an employee nor administrator on here. The fact that they used to be a Naim employee some years ago was cause for the confusion. The post was made some time back on a different thread. At the time, it was reported to me and I removed the post as I deemed it inappropriate. This was all carried out all as per forum rules and policy.
As far as I am concerned this matter is now closed.

Not the end yet, as we're all waiting on tenterhooks to hear Zeny's confirmation that the package has arrived, and (hopefully) that he is happy with his purchase!

I feel as if I'm living in some sort of time-warp in this thread, despite Richard's "closure"
Quite separately, how about a sweep-stake on the Burndy arrival time at Zeny's place ?
I'm a bit nonplussed by the comments about the review of the 300. The quoted comment simply states what the reviewer perceived by comparison with the original. In listening to 250.2 versus 250DR, the same sort of differences are apparent. It doesn't make the 250.2 any worse than it was, same as the original 300, but it does illustrate the difference the (damned) DR makes. (I say damned because I own a 250.2...
). Yes, the DR does make that much difference.
You could be forgiven for thinking that such fundamental differences would make the DR models sound less Naim-like. If anything I'd argue the opposite and argue that the changes really bring to the fore the typical Naim traits of pace rhythm and timing due to the better definition and extra nuance (particularly in improved decay) brought about by the new regulation.
Maybe I'm mis-reading the quote, but I can tell you now that the (damned) 250DR spewed over the 250.2 from a great height when we had them both in the shop...(damn!)
Regards,
Frank.
All opinions are my own and do not reflect the opinion of any organisations I work for, except where this is stated explicitly.
Wow, this thread is getting lengthy with lots of drama covering a rant, the shipping process, accusation and now the DR review. What a thread.
I have to say this word loud and clear "DAMN" ....I also owned a Nap250.2.....sad.
To make matter look more DAMN, I just remembered I ordered the last batch of Nap250.2 before it was replaced by Nap250 DR. Now it is seriously a DAMN ! Should I damn my dealer? I got the news of Nap250 DR from this forum, can you believe it?
when did you place the order for the 250.2 Mikapoh? it if is close enough to 14 May 2015 then in your place I would have very harsh and tough words with the dealer for putting you in this 1000 GBP loss position. You can of course upgrade the 250.2 to 250 DR but 995 upgrade cost, and then the shipping back to UK isn't going to be cheap.
I quite like the review of the 300DR, I don't get the negative comments about it. What is a reviewer to say, it is better and leave it at that and finish the review in 2 sentences?
My dealer has just picked up the parcel from salisbury, 6 days after I first received the 300DR boxes. I must say the speed this matter is (almost) resolved exceeded my expectations, considering that I am half a globe away.
I'll update again once I actually receive the parcel myself, when the burndys are plugged in with the rings locking properly, and when the 300DR starts making music. ![]()

I presume that is your dealer picked up from the local shipping agent the package that had been sent from Salisbury, as opposed to your dealer meanwhile has gone to Salisbury to pick up from there ! The latter of course might have been an option...
Picked up the parcel which was sent from salisbury, I mean ![]()
Blimey! what a thread! I have just wasted half the morning getting drawn into reading this and finding it oddly fascinating. No wonder many "normal" people think "audiophiles" are nutters! amazing how a rant about a missing cable can develop into a convoluted comic tale and 21st century scandal akin to Watergate, very entertaining.
Every sympathy with the OP and his predicament but really.....
Order! Order!
