Bob, Are you using Airport Express connected to your Amp or a 3.5mm jack from the iPad mini ?
If it is through the airport express you could be streaming a lower encoded rate ?
Spotify guru's might need to chime in on the app settings to ensure you are getting the best quality output.
If you are enjoying the music, it would sound like you have it setup well :-)

3.5 jack
I have a very large lp cd collection , so i am happy there
have just been to the hi fi show ,seen all this streaming and thought i would have a go , but didnt know if i had to have anything else
I am not the youngest person or sharpest in the box anymore . I keep looking at messages or on the computer and cant understand it .
Just thought I liked the idea of having more music without the physical amount
thanks for any answers

If you just want to use Spotify for casual background listening, and as an easy way to discover new music, you could just stick with what you've got. If you want good sound quality, you wont get it from Spotify because it's a compressed format, and you wont get it with an iPad 3.5mm jack connection either. If you decide to go for something better, a Naim streamer would be a good option. A Naim dealer will be able to set it up for you, and you'll be able to use the Naim app on your iPad to control it. It will give you access to Tidal (like Spotify, but with decent sound quality,) plus loads of other online music sources, and if you add local storage it will play downloads or ripped CDs.
