Nap 250 DR

Does anyone know what serial numbers started for the dr version? Thanks

You can ask Naim for that, but if you are unsure about a specific unit, it will have the DR logo on the back panel (if newly manufactured as DR).

If it was upgraded to DR, Naim can confirm that for you from the SN.

From what I have seen, units upgraded to DR also have the DR logo on the back.

I have chance of a 6mth old nap 250 non dr for half price. Is this worth the buy and save for the dr upgrade or buy dr model from new? Cheers

It's your choice. If half price is £1,750 and you add the £1,000 upgrade, that's £2,750. Which is £750 less than a new DR version. Against that, maybe - and it's just maybe - an 'original' DR may - and it's just may - hold its value better. But if you don't plan to sell it it won't matter. But then again, do you want to be without your new amp for a month when you sent it to Salisbury to be upgraded? Like I said, it's your choice.

Half price for a 6 month old 250.2 is cracking good value. Even if you don't DR it, it is an amazing amp.

If 6 months old it is basically new but just run in nicely for you.

I'm thinking its a good buy. I was a day away from taking the 200 I've had on demo so to get a 250 now for the same price is a bit of a steal. I will see an improvement now and then maybe dr it in 6 months time and hopefully see another nice jump in performance.

This seems like a good deal. Presumably you already have a Hicap, as unlike a 200, a 250 can't power your preamp. Also, what preamp do you have? The traditional view is that if you 'only' have a 202, then it doesn't pair very well with a 250, and you should upgrade the preamp first.

Yes I've had a 202 hicap napsc on demo and that would be what I partner it with, can't afford a 282 as well yet. That will be next year some point

I would buy the 250.2.

Unless you are getting a 200 DR.

No it's not the 200 I have on demo is a 2012

Then i would get the 250.2 without any hesitation.

750 GBP is a lot of money to save. and if and when you decide to go for DR upgrade, then it will be even better.
