Transcoding Flac to Wav on the fly using Foobar2000

Posted by: MGA on 04 November 2015

I am trying to determine how to setup Foobar2000 to transcode Flac to Wav on the fly, and am having no luck in getting direction on how to set it up.  If anyone knows of a component and settings to do this, I would be very grateful for the help.  The lap top is connected to the media player via usb.  Thanks in advance for the help

I haven't used Foobar's UPnP server for a long time but I assume you have this component installed and activated. Under File/Preferences you should see a directory tree including the options for the UPnP server. Select Profiles and there are a series of streaming profiles there. If none suits your needs you can add a new profile or edit the default profile. I'm guessing here but I think you will want to convert to LPCM (not sure whether decoding specifically to wav is an option).

Alternatively, have you considered installing Minimserver or Asset which might be easier to configure the way you want.
