New Snaxo 242

Posted by: blacksheep on 05 November 2015

I've just bought a 242 to replace my Snaxo 2-4 and am a bit puzzled about the xlr connections to the 135s,

I've just plugged them in to the high and low sockets on the new crossover and it sounds fine. However I now have 2 xlrs with the blue wire into the left hand socket on the low frequency amps and the 2 xlrs with the red connected into the right hand socket ( looking from the back )  to the high frequency pair.

As the high and low pairs are both channels on the 242 isn't this giving me the same from both speakers?

I tried one of the red xlrs to one of the bass amps but got nothing.

Help much appreciated.

Blacksheep, I'm a little confused when you say "blue wire'.  You should have a pair of DIN-XLR leads for each pair of NAP135s - one of the leads has a green band (CH1 - left) and the other a red band (CH2 - right).  So first of all make sure you have the correct banded lead plugged into the correct socket on each NAP135.  Then connect into the SNAXO 24 as per the manual.

Note that it's a little bit different to the older SNAXO 2-4. The old way with the SNAXO 2-4 was to have one pair on HF & LF CH1, and the other pair on HF & LF CH2. On the newer SNAXO 242 you will have one pair on the HF CH1 & CH2, and the other pair on LF CH1 & CH2.

Hi Richard, thanks for the speedy reply.

Two xlrs have no band so I look at the wiring to the plugs. All have green connected, two have red and two blue connected.

With the 2-4 I had the reds  both for high and the blues for low, both using the same 135 socket. I take it now I use left and right sockets for the high and low and pair the xlr leads so I have a red and blue ( green ) for the bass pair and the treble pair?

I've plenty of manuals but not found much help with this, I suppose it happens when you mix old and new, cheers, Alan
