Terminating NACA5

Posted by: Bojangle on 05 November 2015

Hi I have purchased NACA5 cable for my new Uniti 2 and Spender A6R's, what is the preferred method of terminating this cable for the best possible sound quality.

Many thanks

Bo, best performance is obtained by having the NACA5 properly soldered to the supplied Naim speaker connectors at the amp and whatever suits the Spendors best - I'm not sure what terminals they use.

Hi Richard,

Is that something I can do or do I need to take the cables somewhere to have it done. My Hi-Fi supplier terminated the cable with Gold plated tube plugs.

Eek.  Change over to the speaker connectors that were supplied with the amp.  These need to be soldered - the FAQ gives more details here on how to best do this.  If the Spendors use gold plated terminals then the plugs as supplied by your dealer may be OK.

Richard is definitely right at the amp end.

Personally I would recommend gold plated deltron plugs soldered on at the speaker end (this is what I use with a pair of SP2s and this gave a distinct improvement over the previous terminations).

Thanks guys, I will do the soldering at both ends.
