Bourgeois blues.  Wild Billy Childish and the natural born lovers.

Tommy,

I enjoyed listening. Thanks for the post. All three bands definitely have the garage sound.

The Electric Mess was good musically, but the lead singer's 'angry chick' voice didn't play well for me. There's enough better stuff out there from Joan Jett and Suzi Quattro for my needs.

The See See was better and I sampled more of their tunes. I liked what I heard, not enough to think about buying anything from them, but they have some promise. Better production, sophisticated sound, and a little more diversity in their songs would suit them.

Allah-las was best of the three with a solid, developed sound, good song writing, and I sample quite a bit from them. I wasn't moved enough to order a new CD or LP, but will definitely keep an eye out for their music in the s/h bins.

Cheers!

Not sure if Billy Childish qualifies as modern... his prime cuts with The Milkshakes were recorded 30 years ago!

Thanks for your feedback joerand. I agree with pretty much all you said, although I rate The See See as the pick of the bunch. Their sister band The Hanging Stars are worth checking out if you like Gram Parsons style 'Cosmic American Music'.
