cd reader with straming capabilities
Posted by: balma01 on 14 November 2015
Hi,
my first system is composed by a uniti + n-sats + n-sub. I'm very satisfied even if I'm planning to upgrade to a superuniti
.
My second system is composed by an arcam alpha5, acoustic energy aegis one and my old rotel cd reader is gone. So I'm looking for an economic cd reader with internet radio streaming capabilities.
Do you have any suggestion?

Sounds like you want a Unitiserve, or something similar for less cash. Vortexbox or Brennan might fit the bill in terms of functionality, but I don't know how they measure up in terms of sound quality. Alternatively, a NAS, and use a computer to rip CDs to it.

How about a used Unitilite. This has a CD player and Internet radio.

When the OP says 'CD reader', I assumed he meant a CD ripper, but maybe he just means a player, in which case a Unitilite would indeed be a good choice. Perhaps he'll clarify what he's looking for?

Sorry. I meant cd player with internet radio streaming capabilities. A used unitilight is a good idea but it's not so easy to find.

True, in fact there are more used Unitis around that Unitilites, so you might even get a better deal on (another) one of these if you're patient.
Alternatively, maybe it's time to stick your CDs on a NAS. Then you could get a Unitiqute, and the NAS would serve both your systems....just an idea.....

Yes I agree with Chris. The Unitiqute new is probably about what you would have to pay for a used Unitilite and a NAS needn't be expensive. You will need something to rip your CDs with, for example a PC.
good luck anyway!
