Getting there ?

Posted by: Mark Arnold on 26 November 2015

hi all thought I'd post an update to how I'm getting on - firstly I have added a used napsc to the nac 202 and bought a nd5 streamer and I must admit it does sound nice I'm hearing new instruments which I didn't know were there before. I know I've got to add a hi cap in the future as I want to see how good I can get it sounding but like I said I'm very pleased with the sound at the moment

The only thing I'm not pleased with is my bank balance I've spent nearly 3k in a month on this stuff and I'm already thinking some nice PMC speakers would be the icing on the cake especially as my MA RS8s are fetching good money at the moment

will get a qnap nas loaded with asset and all my CDs ripped to WAV sometime in December as the Mrs is treating me lol - she's not stupid she has waited for me to spend money on all the expensive stuff so she buys the cheap thing lol

Anyone using Tidal? Might subscribe and cancel Spotify

regards Mark

Hi Mark,
Has your nd5 got the latest firmware update allowing tidal.
You may be able to get the 3 months tidal trial offer to try it.
I'm not sure how it works if the nd5 was bought used if the previous owner used tidal.
Maybe Richard could clarify for you.

Xps2 dr next (lol)

Not sure if you meant this but...

The ND5XS cannot be powered by a Hicap. You need an XP5XS or XPS to improve the ND5XS.

Of course, if you meant a hicap to power the 202, then that will work.

Frank.

If I remember correctly, you sign up for the Tidal free trial through their website. I can't see it being a problem using it with a used streamer - if it's still available, go for it.
