I have aquired a snaps and just plugged it in to the mains (not connected up to amps yet before the avalanche of replies) and it became hot within a few minutes.

any suggestions?

I had a similar experience with an old snaps I acquired a few years ago. I sent a picture of the inside to Class A in Sheffield and was informed something had burnt out. I had it repaired and serviced there to a very high standard and at a reasonable cost. Sorry for the lack of specific technical information, but I hope this helps.

Many thanks Hodders!

I did think this was more than likely the outcome but just wanted to see if it was something that may be a simple fix

Do you know its history? Either way, it's an elderly bit of kit so get it checked out by Naim or a Naim approved service agent.
