HH,

I don't think it's anything new. There was a coloured dot against each member's name to indicate whether or not he/she was on line before the update and I often wondered why you seemed to go offline immediately after you had posted.

I have only had chance to try it on my ipad so far and, although its different and it insisted on me including my post code foor some reason, it seems ok to me.  I've not tried to post a picture yet which was my main frustration but if it does that I can live with everything else easily

But if I'm posting, how can I not be online?

Strange. Perhaps if you log out and in again? Possibly a browser issue? (clutching at straws here).

Look in your profile preferences.  You probably have checked the "private browsing" box - it shows you as always offline.

Posted on: 03 December 2015 by Jan-Erik Nordoen

Ah. It's the 'Keep your online status private' option under 'Personal settings'.

A small avatar appearing top right to show one is signed in? Otherwise status isn't immediately apparent.

That's it, I'd ticked the box. I'll leave it that way so I can remain a man of mystery. Interestingly, there's also a box to stop private messages being sent. I wonder if this much requested facility is now live, or if the box is just there to taunt us.

Private messaging has been disabled.

Perhaps there should be a "cancel" button if one start a post, but then change their mind.

Change should introduce demonstrable improvement...when I logged in this evening rather than marvel at the revisions I actually thought my tablet was mal functioning!

Is there a 'return to earlier setting' button ?

No possibility to paste a picture into a post. It's not always easy to first upload to something like photobucket.

I've had no problem posting pictures with ImageShack. I like the new scaling option.

The view at the forum level is not so bad although the avatars are far too big. The problems start when one opens a specific thread or topic. Here, vertical space is wasted in abundance and the layout needs to be improved. This should be easily doable, though. On the brighter side: the grey green of the "Post Reply", "Post" and "Featured" buttons is very nice and the selection of grey tones is consistent with the old scheme and also very nice: alles wird gut, tutto andrĂ¡ bene. Best, nbpf

Bert, you cannot directly upload a picture to the forum (there are some exceptions here - it was enabled for Beta users for example as this was needed in some instances) - this has not changed and won't change.  Photo hosting sites are free whereas image storage on here costs Naim extra on top of the regular forum costs.

Can someone post an image of what the black header bar should show as I'm sure I'm missing functions...

Thanks,

Internationalisation of the site is poor.  I am a British user of the official forum for a British company.  At the very least, I expect to be able to read dates properly.

Jan-Erik Nordoen posted:

  1. Remove gray background and offset of every second post (this is confusing as every second reply looks like a quoted post)

Thank you

Brian,

I haven't looked yet but last time the Forum was updated we found that we could re-set date format (I think) and time to line up with the UK including BST and GMT (and yes, I know, some people call it Zulu and others UTC.................)

In the "Comments" column ie the strip to the right side of the screen layout, avatars appear against entries where the member has an avatar.

People who don't have an avatar no longer have the "head and shoulder siluette"(*) of old and there is no (obvious ?) way of identifying these recent posters.

Is this a deliberate attempt to "encourage" these others, or just a "bug" ?

(*) no obvious need for a spellcheck, you all know what I mean

I just wrote a new post and had the issue that I could not place the cursor back somewhere into already written text. Sometimes it hardly works, but in most cases only a small context menu opens asking me if I want to select the whole text.

chrome on ipad mini 2. Browser an iOS uptodate versions.

How do you work out whether you are signed in or not (other than attempting a dummy post)? There used to be my avatar in the top right, but no longer.

I notice all the pictures in my profile are no longer visible (to me at least). If they are gone, what have Naim done with them?

Forum (community) rank seems to have disappeared too, on purpose or just another balls-up?

"Current Visitors" - right hand side of the screen layout, near the bottom.

Does this now serve any useful purpose ? there are only half a dozen or so entries and you can no longer expand it from the previous 30 entries to the potential 60.

Looks like a "Bug" to me, but might be deliberate.

The "tool bar" at the top of my screen shows my avatar and name and opens up my profile when I click on it, just like before !

All my pictures in old posts are still there and so is my Forum Ranking.

This might indicate a "Bug" with your Internet Platform/Hoopla interface ?
