Why is every second reply in a thread indented? It looks like a quote inside the previous reply, which is irritating.
Indeed.

If you're referring to the two character "indent" in the every-other gray box versus the white (that's the way my browser displays it), I'd guess it's associated with the grey background formatting.
There is a faint, light grey separator line between posts that shows atop the white background, but appears to be embedded in the top of the grey boxes. That could be the issue. A black line or space below the separator would be more distinct.
IB, have you tried clicking on the username? That works fine on my iPhone. Should work on the iPad. Please confirm yes or no.
My scrolling finger hurts.
Is that a bug Garyi?

Ouch! Frequent forum users could have some disappointed wives 'til things settle. Might be an opportunity to switch things up and try going left-handed?

Clicking username in the post heading opens a box just with stats (last visit, date joined etc), same whether or not there's an avatar (vs selecting the avatar when there is one gives profile). HOWEVER, I've just found that clicking the username in that stats box does then open the profile. I hadn't tried that second stage selection before. And I can confirm my iPhone running IOS7.1.2 works the same way.
with that knowledge it's ok - thanks for prompt, Richard
Great. Yes, a lot of prodding and poking about with the iPhone shows that the member profile is layered on IOS, I guess to fit it all in without making it tiny. So clicking on the username takes you through the layers. Good news.
In fairness the layout works really well on iPhone, just does not translate so well on a 27in screen
As a small contribution towards reducing the waste of vertical space, I have deleted my avatar. At the "Featured topics" level and in my browser, the avatars appear to be responsible for about 20% of the vertical spacing. Deleting the avatars allows for some more topics to be visible on one page.
Dates on posts older than a few days are in the US date format not the UK format - the correct format could be determined from the location country - or assumed to be UK as this is a UK based community.
I suggest that the forum developers get hold of a book on NLS support so that they can provide products for people of the world instead of the subset that is between the Pacific and the Atlantic.

Hello all. Firstly, thank you, Naim, for working to improve the Forum for everyone. This stuff isn't easy and newness almost always equals shock and reactionary complaints, from my experience.
Also, this is not a bug, neither it is gripe - merely an observation to reinforce those made by others...
...that there is a tremendously inefficient use of space, especially vertical space, as someone has already wisely said. I understand the reasoning behind enlarging the font size (and support it, wide age demographic to name but one) yet there is, perhaps, too much dead space on the page now. It's like the entire forum is at 150% zoom.
I keep itching to hit CMD - to make it all easier to take in. In fact, I just did that and it's a bit better.
I think also that the default font sizes for the Headers and Titles and Body Copy are a little out of whack for easy reading. There appears to be fairly random sizing discrepancies.
We get far fewer posts per page, vertically, than before and that means more work and scrolling for the user.
Individual posts may look a little less cramped, and prettier, but finding them and browsing a page suffers as a result. Given the function of a forum is essentially that of a text-heavy, tagged database, this seems counter-productive.
Lastly, and this has always confused me, the Word Cloud feature seems to be a graphic rather than a real-time reflection of what's actually being discussed. At first I thought it was because you only tracked Naim-branded items. Or wished to promote some of them. But Sonos, Apple and Mac, are all on there. And the Hugo Dac thingy is not anywhere. I don't own a Hugo and I've never heard one (might tomorrow when I'm, auditioning my brother's new speakers with him) but given the deluge of posts about this, I'd have thought it would register somewhere. Neither is Mullet, Monkfish or Ball-Nutters.
Can anyone shed some light on the methodology behind that cloud?
Thanks again, for all the hard work in making stuff better.
Sorry if this has already been posted but on an iPhone once you get partway through a long thread the only way out is to scroll all the way to the top or bottom. It'd be really useful if there was a button to go to the top or bottom of the page on each post, otherwise I can see that becoming less and less useful as a means of accessing the site.
It's the same on an iPad. I only use an iPad to access the forum. At the moment it all seems a bit of an effort and I'm finding myself not bothering as often.
David
Last time I looked Naim was still a British company so dates in the correct format please - i.e. the last day in November is 30/11/2015 not 11/30/2015.
Don(keyhaute), the Tags shouldn't be there . I just hadn't got around to getting rid of them. No idea how they work or how they're chosen, sorry.
Sorry Richard. yes I meant 'Tags' not WordCloud. I'd humbly suggest that if they aren't indicative of current thread topics or buzzwords, then maybe they are just eating up space?
Thanks for replying.
Jack
They have now gone...
Blimey. This may be the summit of my life's achievement (looks incredulously at own fingers).
The experience on a PC is much more pleasant than on an iPad in my view and the screen size on an iPad is similar to the screen size on my Thinkpad as I am running a browser with the sidebar eg Firefox.
But whereas the PC can use the desktop site, the iPad can't. Normally on an iPad you can request the desktop site instead of the mobile site by pressing and holding the refresh icon and then select "Request desktop site" or by pressing the share icon and scrolling to "select desktop site". But the new Forum ignores either of these requests. I imagine this will be especially annoying on the big iPad professional.
This strikes me as either a bug or a bad decision by Hoopla.

David, it would appear this was a big part of the impetus behind the changes made to Hoop La - to make a forum platform that looks and behaves similarly regardless of device. Whether the right decision or not, it is what it is. Let's see how it goes...
Richard
I do get that, but actually it looks worse on an iPad than on a PC, so they have failed in their mission and they also prevent the user from making his own choice.
On a more positive note, I saw some earlier posts about how to get the full forum member profile and the conclusion was that you couldn't on an iPhone. This may have been posted before by someone else (I confess to not reading every post on this stream) in which case I apologise, but you can easily do it on an iPhone. As you pointed out, you hover over the avatar or the username and you get a shortened profile. But if you tap on the username or avatar in this shortened profile, you go to a new screen with the full profile. On my iPad this works too, except that I find usually I get a menu when I tap on the username or avatar and in that case I just tap "Open" which is the top choice and that again takes you to a new page with the full profile.
As I remarked yesterday, perhaps the bug is that this isn't obvious enough.

Hi David, yes we discovered that about the profile "layering" last night.
Funnily enough I did finally get a go on an iPad with the new forum and I actually felt it looked better than on the MBP.
