ChrisSU posted:ChrisSU posted:I'm finding that hitting 'first unread post' often takes me to the wrong place in a thread, usually back to posts I have read. The old forum never got this wrong.
Is there any chance of a fix for this? Combined with the huge amount of scrolling required to find where you want to be, it's really doing my head in.
I get this too, iPad mini using Safari.
Richard Dane posted:I've passed this one but after much testing Hoop La can't replicate this, Chris. And I can't make it misbehave either. Is this a specific device/browser?
Hi Richard, It happens on Safari on OSX and iOS (iPhone and iPad.) Sometimes it takes me to the right post, but more often it doesn't. It might take me to the first post, even on a multi-page thread, or any other, apparently random point.
One bug I've come across is that I now don't receive email notifications of new threads I'm following, including ones I've started. Threads I have been following for a long time still come through.
Richard Dane posted:DB, nobody should be posting directly to the site - for some reason it is enabled for Beta testers (Naim have their reasons here, I guess). All images should be from external sites or hosted elsewhere (photo bucket, Flikr etc..). Any images hosted on site cannot be guaranteed to be viewable to all.
Ok, Richard I was having the same problem, even with photobucket.
I will try a test run on this post. I must confess, I wasn't all that on the old format.

Yes - it was with links to images from some sites that used to work before I was talking about, not direct uploads. I find it hit and miss, some pictures render ok from some sites and some don't, which never happened before. Mainly happened when linking Album covers in the music section.
DB.
Thanks for putting Padded Cell on the top line but please FIX THAT DATE!
Date in mm/dd/yyyy format makes no sense at all - if you must have it that way round then fully written (e.g. December 16th 2015) would be tolerable.
According to hoop la the date is fine and will correspond to the format preferences you set in your browser and OS. However, browser and OS need to be fully up to date and there does appear to be an issue with Safari...
If you're using Chrome, you need to into Preferences, then Settings, then Advanced Settings, then add (or change) the Language and input display setting, then drag your first choice to the top of the list, then click Done, then close the browser, then reopen it. I think I need a lie down.
Hi Jan-Eric
thanks for the suggestion but setting the language preference and rebooting hasn't worked - the date is still arse backwards. I guess we can add Chrome to Safari on the list of browsers that have a problem.
Where are we seeing these funny dates?

In the "Featured Topics." (it's the grey bar, just above the other grey bar, bounded a few more grey bars ... perfect colour scheme for the weather here).
Ah, as in 'updated 13/12/15', which of course is perfectly OK. So it's a non-UK issue?
Well everything I've complained about is still unfixed
1. Editing / trimming a quote before writing in the response area means the cursor won't drop in.
2. 'First Unread Post' still (mostly) wrong, one in 5 go to the right place, the others just zoom to the beginning.
3. Can't paste anything in any box, the only options are select/select all, ONLY after selecting some random text will the paste option become available, useless if you need to paste in a url! Moving off the browser tab to 'select' the url starts the whole process off again.
4. No way of simply cancelling a 'reply' (useful when the cursor won't drop in the right area AGAIN!)
5. New one! I hit 4 usernames in a row (without doing anything but scrolling) When the 4th mini profile pops up an extra window pops up saying there was some sort of unspecified error (I tried to copy said message but the cursor would not drop in the box, of course, see 1.)
Latest iPad mini / safari
Rather than clogging up the System Pics thread any more, I thought I'd post here regarding images not showing. I'm using a Macbook Pro and iPhone 6, both on latest OS, and off the top of my head, I'd say that at least 50% of all images posted are invisible to me. In email notifications, they are never visible. (Incidentally, the format of email notifications is that of the old forum, not that it matters.) Sometimes I see a square with a small blue question mark, but not always.
OK - I've tried other browsers re this date issue. It is correct on Firefox but when I tried Explorer the Forum wouldn't load at all complaining of an out of date browser (it's Explorer 8). I should not have to update my browser merely to use a simple forum.
I regard this as poor and lazy - I am responsible for a web site that is way more complex than a forum and is used worldwide, often by people with a cognitive disability. This site displays correctly on all devices and all browsers - it can be done!
You have to upgrade from IE8 anyway soon, because the support for it will end on 12th of January 2016.
Can't seem to add photo when replying to a thread ...
Most of the time I can't add a photo at all!
To add a photo go to the insert/edit image box (the one that has a mountain in it) in the top bar of the Add Reply box. Then just paste in the direct URL (web address) of your image. It must be publicly accessible - i.e. hosted online and not password protected or private.
"Post Reply" allows for "Bullet listing"
- A bit like this
- and a bit like that
- You know the sort of thing I mean
If I move to the next line like this, before creating the Bullet List, it works fine. (1)
If I create the bullet list and then try to continue normal non-bullet text, it won't let me. It will only allow more bullets to be added to the list.
I can get around this by "Un-bulleting" the list, moving to the next line and typing a few characters, then going back to create the Bullet list as in (1) above.
"Word" allows both options. Not sure if this constitutes a "Bug" or is just sloppy acceptance of "second best"
If I use the three bar menu to go to any of the forums except "Padded Cell", I get to sent to a Hoop-la page saying "Forum has been deleted". This was working fine yesterday.
I can still use the path at the bottom of the page, go up to "Naim Users", and then down to "Hi-Fi Forum" and the rest.
Hopefully a temporary glitch?
Hook
Hook,
I just noticed same issue on Windows XP + Google with the black banner bar at top. I'm assuming it's maintenance or such.
Same here on iPhone
