SBL , upgrade from a intro 2?.

Hi forum.

Having upgraded to a Nap 200, Nac 202 Hicap & Napsc , I am thinking of of replacing my intro 2 speakers ,to a set of sbl MK2 speaker's.

Would a Nap 200 be a worthy amp to drive sbl's, and how much of a sound quality increase should be present?.

So long as your source is good enough, and you can set them up properly, and you have a solid brick wall for them to sit against, the SBLs would be a massive upgrade.

The SBL's will also continue to show off any future upgrades you decide to make to the source, pre and power amps.

I have had SBLs 9 years ago, with CDX2/XPS/202/200, and I have them again now, with CDS3 and a Supernait. For a while, this second pair has been driven by an AV2 and a NAP150x.  I think they are worth having, almost independent of the ancillary electronics; they might request loving care, new pads and gaskets, a check of the drivers' bolts' torque but, as my friend Christopher says, they are iconic and venerable. They will respond positively to any upgrade. I find them just a little less visually charming than R2 D2, but my wife loves them.

The only other speaker I have had, sold, had again, sold again and that might be on my way again is the N-Sat.

A very wise step. They will be good for many future upgrades. I have had Mk 2s for over ten years and they have improved with every step up the ladder. They are particularly good in an active set up. Just make sure they are properly set up.

I have commented some incredibly harsh words about Naim speakers on this forum. I simply do not get on with them at all.

But I have grudging respect for SBLs.  They are uniquely well  balanced and from the hours I have spent listening to them and Intros, I can say the SBLs leave Intros far behind.

Intros to SBLs is a no brainer...go for it.  A 200 is more than a worthy amp for them.
