I recently bought an HDX, and have it connected to an Apply Time Capsule via ethernet, and have Itunes running in a shared folder within the Public folder on a Mac Mini, also connected by ethernet to the Time Capsule.
I followed the instructions on creating the share within Mac, and the shares are seen and enabled on the HDX. When I set this up a few days ago, I had this working okay, and could browse and playback my Itunes music from the HDX and the App on my Ipad which I use as a remote control (Shame there is no Mac desktop client but this is another subject)
However, since restarting the HDX the ability to playback the streamed Itunes music has gone. I can still see the share, and it is enabled, and I can browse the tracks from both the HDX and App on Ipad, but when I try to play any of Itunes tracks, the HDX searches and then fails to play the track. The same failure happens when using the App to playback.
I can add Itunes tracks to a current playlist, and browse music, just no playback. If I play a current playlist with music from the HDX CD collection mixed with tracks from the Itunes music share, only the CD tracks play.
Has anyone else had a problem ? Any suggestions ?

Units always leave the factory with the latest version of software that is available at that time however there was an update for the Music Servers released at the start of April which is downloadable from the relevant products download page on the Naim Audio website.
If your unit is a few months old then it is likely to be 1.5a SP1 and the current code is SP2.
If you can update your unit to that then we'll take another look if you still have problems.
Cheers

I tried upgrading my HDX from 1.5aSP1 to 1.5aSP2 yesterday. I now have a HDX that needs to be returned to Naim. I have done countless firmware upgrades on many different devices and never had a problem. I followed the instructions as provided by Naim and burned the ISO image - at first the update seemed to be working as it did what the Naim instructions detailed but after a while it failed to respond and either the instructions are wrong or my unit is faulty. The update seems to have worked partially in that the system will talk to nserve and the new desktop client and says it is on version 1.5aSP2 but it does not respond to the front panel whcih still displays the message System Programming Firmware Update in Progress Do Not Switch Off.
My HDX is only three months old so I am not entirely happy about this.

I updated my unit last night to 1.5aSP2, and it is the first firmware update I have done. It took longer than I expected, but when it came back up it seems to have fixed my issue, and I can now play the streamed Itunes Music held on my Mac Mini. I haven't tested any more of the functionality since the update, or the front panel, as I used my Ipad App, but will check tonight.
