If the 'murkans elect that dodo, we're building a wall.

Yours sincerely,

As the American president has also a big impact on the world, I am just hoping it will never get that far....

The guy doesn't have a single presidential bone in his body and is not electable despite of what the present poles are showing.

Winkyincanada - He won't get elected but do us sane ones in the USA a huge favor.

Take Ted Cruz back

His remarks have caused a some concern in UK.
A petition is calling for Trump to be barred from entering UK has already passed 100,000, this means it will have to be considered for a debate in Parliament.
Same in Scotland who have a petition asking for him to be stripped of an honorary degree awarded by an Aberdeen university, its being considered by the Principle .
Also campaigners are demanding  a boycott of Trump’s Scottish hotels and golf courses & its expected this will get backed up with protest groups at the properties this weekend.

There are two side to a wall. I actually think they should build one... to keep HIM in!

To balance the Trump discussion I should comment on his statement that parts of London have no-go areas because of Islamic rationalisation.  Their have been lots of protests from many qtrs this morning mostly all saying that is not correct.
However despite the Metropolitan (London) Police saying he 'couldn't be more wrong',  some police officers on the ground have said 'Islamification' is happening that they do need to be 'extra vigilant'.
The same is for sure happening in Paris.
So Trump might be selectively picking on stuff favourable to his argument & blowing it up beyond all recognition,  but we do need to pay attention to some underlying issues that IMO are in danger of growing in significance.

Mike - do you have actual evidence or testimony for this? I say that because I have lived in London for 33 years, the last 25 of them in an area with a very large South Asian population (most of them Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslims), and I have never seen, nor heard of, any 'no-go" areas because of Islamification.

There are plenty of no-go areas for the Police in london, of course, but these tend to be sink estates or areas controlled by gangs, whose racial and religious (if religion comes into it at all) affilation is very mixed.

There have been instances of various Islamist thugs - usually in East London - declaring "sharia zones" but these self-deluding bellends are usually ignored by the locals, mocked or get felt up by the Plod if they go too far.

There are few, if any, posters on this forum who regard Islamism (or indeed Islam) as more of a problem for UK culture and society than I do, but Trump is lying and engaging in extremely egregious exaggeration.

Kevin,  I did not say no-go areas,  Trump said that.
What I said is some police officers on the ground have said 'Islamification' is happening that they do need to be 'extra vigilant'.
I posted this as I was reading news this morning that confirmed something a near neighbour - an ex Met Inspector - told us last evening at a village meeting.  He said its not so much no-go,  more like go carefully & not alone.  Also that the previous dodgy gang/drug areas are becoming more radical & there is growing evidence that previous no religion/christian (small "c") youngsters are converting/or following Islam as being a radical has good street cred & promotes gang ranking.

I can't quite work out Trump.  On the face of it his public pronouncements on race, gender, disability, religion etc etc  from someone who is seeking the US Presidency would suggest he's as thick as a brick. But can someone seemingly that thick become a self-made billionaire? Or is he playing us all?

Posted on: 09 December 2015 by Tony2011

I think we underestimate  him and he might have a point: the signs are out there for everyone to see.

He's having fun shouting, stroking his own ego etc. etc. Nothing to worry about.

Trump is a moronic racist wanker. The best thing is is ignore him. Hopefully the redneck cousin fanciers will eventually realise.

As a "murkan, I'm totally embarrassed, frightened and amazed he's still in the race. It's scary how he behaves.

My apologies to the world.

One of the comforting aspects of Mr Trumps campaign is that it is self funded. As such he has no pressure to moderate his pronouncements out of fear his funds would be cut off, if he says dumb things. As such he has ample opportunities to shoot himself in the foot, something he does superbly well.  This will eventually cost him dearly .

Also even if he maintains his 25-30% support amongst Republican voters, so what. The American voters are increasingly varied in ethnic makeup overall and as such most will be repelled by his message should he get so far as being the Republican candidate in tthe 2016 election.

This Trump turkey is a gift to the Democrat party.

One would hope so but they did elect George W.

Bush(es), Obama, Clinton(s) - all human garbage.  Trump as well of course.  As I have said his "value" (to stretch the term about as far as it can go) has been to expose the US presidential elections for what it is; a giant farce of a reality TV show. There isn't one decent candidate running on either side.  I cannot despise any group of people more than I do these @sshats that are running...psychopaths, murderers, criminals, and pathological liars one and all.

Posted on: 09 December 2015 by joerand

TouchĂ©, beat me to the punch on that Steve. Despite how wacky a republican candidate may appear there are plenty of conservative zealots that will place a singular issue like gun rights or anti-abortion above all else. This tends to balance voting in presidential elections.

From here the whole American political process looks utterly broken; from the candidate selection to the crippling stalemate imposed by the houses of legislature on a mandated incumbent. 'Parties' seem to just be self-aggrandising individuals rather than democratic organisations (is Trump actually a Republican at all?) UK eyes find the associations of money and especially radical Christianity so intimately with the electoral process pretty unpleasant too. Well mine do anyway!

We have only one current party leader with a personal faith that is even a matter of public fact; and he was elected because there was nobody else left to choose in his party really! I don't embrace out political system with a totally uncritical eye but good grief America-wake up.

Maybe we just get a biased view from here; maybe it is fine and we just don't understand.

What I think of Trump is unprintable but I would go along with what hungryhalibut said at this moment in time.

Not bad for a 4 times bankruptcy .

Hey Gianluigi, his bankruptcy experience is possibly the only thing that qualifies him for the office...inasmuch as he would be taking over a fiscally insolvent enterprise.
