I am reading elsewhere about a new cartridge from Linn to replace the Klyde.

The Kristal?

It really does look the business!

It does indeed look the business. The Kore and now this cartridge are real possibilities for me short of way out there money (all relative of course). Still no idea of pricing?

I'm very interested to hear it - although there is still plenty of life in my current cartridge.

I understand that in the UK it will be £1190 - so up against cartridges like the Dynavetor XX2/2 and Lyra Delos on price, but if Linn have got it right could it really be competing with the circa £2K cartridges on performance?

Also if you are in the market for a £3K cartridge would the Krystal and a Super Lumina (or similar) interconnect be a viable alternative?

My only concern is that it appears to be an evolution of the Klyde  - which I never warmed to - and according to what I've been told could vary significantly in performance.

All good fun though

It looks great in an Aro and for the money a great partner for the Aro too - A silver Troika maybe!!!Aro Kristal

Good to hear that it's better than Klyde which I never though it worked that well on ARO.

Does it work with Linto?

It certainly looks the part.

Peter, when you suggest a "Silver Troika" are you referring to the sound quality reference a Troika "Gold" standard or are you suggesting it's as good as a Troika but coloured silver rather than red ?

Nice pic Chris, the cart is magical and as good as I will ever need. Can I ask which notch you have the bias hanger on, I have mine on the third one from the bearing cup.

Thanks,

Mario

I heard the Kristal at a dealershow in january this year. For a comparison with the old Klyde they had two exactly the same LP12's.

The Kristal had more resolution and color than the Klyde but the old Klyde had some other strengths to.

The Krystal has replaced my Lyra Kleos but there is a bit more to it than that.

Mario - I think it in the fourth notch but I cannot check at the moment - anyway it is the last but one

Great photo. Is that a Skale on the Aro and the adjuster weight for azimuth still on?

Yes it is at the moment. It was reset to use with the standard counterweight and the adjuster weight for azimuth put back on - I am taking the opportunity to experiment a little

Thanks, be very interested to hear how you get on both sound wise and adjustments etc bias, azimuth, tracking weight etc. Must say the Krystal looks great in the Aro and saw one in the flesh yesterday and it looks even better.  Enjoy

Is anyone using a Krystal with a Superline? If so what loading plugs are you using?
