At long last the tellurium is sorted.

hi,a while ago i posted for some advice on the tellurium black speaker cable & interconnect.today we actually fitted the tellurium silver speaker cable and i can tell you now that the result was outstanding. To recap the system is supernait 2-cd5xs-flatcap-hicap....hiline & chord epic twin & spendor 6.
the soundstage was much wider, the detail was much improved, everything was improved. On the jap blu-spec 2 edition of Kind of blue it was as if a veil had been lifted. The jap edition of elvis & r.p.o. was so outstanding the depth of elvis voice was superb.
Im leaving on the hiline for a month for everything to settle then if I'm satisfied ok if not the graphite or ultra black interconnect is the next step........ps the cables were burnt in by the shop for 100 hours plus.
Basically Sound, or Basically Clueless? We need to know.
i believe that a forum is you like this-i like that.my dealer is very far from unwise.i owned a flatcap and a hi-cap and i preferred the sound with the flatcap fitted to the supernait 2.both were tried both were tested etc etc but i preferred, not by much, the flatcap plus it was aesthetically better as well on the rack.tony was explaining about the redundancy of one unit i made the choice and i am a very happy man with it.the speakers are a6 spendor.i think mr haibut you are being very rude to the dealer with your remarks.i know by the links you enter into on this forum you have the knowledge of naim right through but in my instance i am very happy,i don't need to change everything on a regular basis,so like i said a forum is you like rod argent i like rod mckuen.lastly i posted this link hopefully to the contributors who gave their time to answer me without their i know all it attitude and i for one don't need to off load my superior self on everything name.why not find a hobby you certainly don't have a life.
The main thing is that you like it in this configuration so good on your dealer for demonstrating the options and letting you decide which is best for you.
Enjoy your setup.
thank you james n you are absolutely right on the money.i believe the beauty is in the ear of the believer and mine are very happy.

I haven't posted in a while, having moved to tubes (heresy, I know), but remembered fondly the discussion about Tellurium Q speaker cables and found an explanation about what is so special about Tellurium at the Eichman site where they talk about Tellurium-Copper alloy and the benefits.

Best to all,
Mike
Interesting link, but it only seems to talk about Tellurium adding machinability and durability to Copper; nothing about sonic effects. Or am I missing something?
cheers,
Rob
Hi Rob, your not missing anything. Eichman talks about its superior ability to make a clean contact which is what they are mainly using it for in their applications.
There has been almost NO data that I could find that would explain what I hear as superior definition. I have found several sources that state that Copper/Tellurium alloy is more resistant to corrosion so it's quite possible connections stay solid longer.
Easier machinability could also mean smoother surface when drawing wire to smaller dimensions.
I can only guess because the hifi manufacturers that use it seem to be very secretive about what makes it special other than the fidelity claims.
Best,
Mike
Does anyone know wether Tellurium Q cables contain any Tellurium ?
Hi Dopeydog, Good to hear your enjoying you new system, I had to chime in and agree with your sentiments entirely, I have been a customer at Basically Sound the past few years and Tony is a very knowledgeable guy who always goes the extra mile for his customers, he certainly does not warrant this kind of ridicule.I have to say it helps if people who post on this forum get all the facts straight before they make sweeping, ill informed statements. Tony a highly professional chap who not only knows his stuff when it comes to all things hifi but is also a really honest decent guy, this is all totally unnecessary imho. enough said.
Rob.
hi
i think HH meant to say that the Flatcap was redundant in dopey's rig.... thats all...
To my knowledge ( please correct me here ) - the flatcap powers the analog stage of the CD5XS and not the digital..
I am wondering too as to why the flatcap is needed there at all
maybe the dealer can clarify - if he happens to be on this forum.
i think HH had positive intent..
congratulations and enjoy your new rig dopey..
post photos when possible
wish you many hours of upgrade free music.
best regards
Crumbs, it was only a jokey comment. Clearly the answer to my question is Basically Sound. It just seems odd to prefer a Supernait 2 powered by a Flatcap rather than by its own internal, and superior, DR power supply. But of course, the customer is always right.

Brilliant...lol
Wow , offence is very easily taken on here at times . I have an olive Hicap I used to use on my old NaitXS and have out of curiosity tried it on my SN2. It made no audible sense to me or my dealer . The whole leap forward for Naim has been based around DR power supplies so it is surprising to here of a dealer suggesting to bypass that . These are my thoughts which 'Basically Sound' along the same lines as HH . However Mr DD if you and your dealer have different experiences and are happy then thats great . Your ears are the ones that matter . At least we can all agree on the the merits of the sorted Tellurium .

Brilliant again !!!!
to put this to bed once and for all.every decision i made is completely made by me knowing all the facts which were explained by my dealer,i don't think he personally agreed with me but as someone said the customer is always right.i am a very happy bunny even though some people might think left of centre field......now god bless I'm off to play some kenny burrell.
