Connection advice please

Please forgive my ignorance!

I have a Supernait 2 and have just bought a Hi Cap DR to boost it.

I took off the link plug covering the pre amp out socket and put in one end of the 5 pin Snaic, with the other end going into the socket 4 to the back of Hi Cap DR. Connected mains lead.

Went to play my turntable from Aux 2 as would have done previously and no sound came from the system.

Do I need a single plug to cover the power amp in below the Hi Cap DR? For it to function? Where am I going wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

Yours frustratingly.

Possibly - not bothering to read the User's Manual.

Rather than paint a picture and waste 1,000 words - I'll direct you to page E6 of the "Integrated Amps Reference English" Manual - https://www.naimaudio.com/site...ish%20Issue%201K.pdf.

Here you should see how it is done.

For your information Mr Meredith that is what I was trying to follow, but without success. But you clearly love to do patronising in spades!

Congrats on new HC-DR. You could also try it on your Stageline. To return the signal back to the SN2 you would need a 4-5 interconnect. Maybe your friendly, local dealer can lend you a 4-5 i/c as well as a Snaic4, so you can see which you prefer. Chris

Sorry, I meant Prefix not Stageline. C.

There is a certain pleasure - what with hunting being banned and all.

How many SNAICs are there in the UM diagram?

How many SNAICs in "I took off the link plug covering the pre amp out socket and put in one end of the 5 pin Snaic, with the other end going into the socket 4 to the back of Hi Cap DR. Connected mains lead."

If not the same - you might need another SNAIC (probably a 4 pin DIN - 4 pin DIN).

All sounds a bit poor to me if bought from a dealer who has not advised if an extra cable is needed.

The manual is perfectly clear. TWO wires. A 5 pin to 5 pin and a 4 pin to 4 pin.
