Star Wars - The Force Awakens

In one word.

Epic!

Been to see it today. Completely faithful to the originals with many nods in their direction throughout. If you liked them, you'll love this.

It's like the last three were just a bad dream.

I've only seen Blue Harvest (I didn't even know they had done the others) but is is even funnier when you have seen the film!

Are the other two worth buying (or on Netflix even - I'll check that)?

A bit of a case of diminishing returns Rod, but worth seeing, especially if you are a Star Wars fan. Even for someone like me, who isn't that interested or knowledgeable about the franchise, it's fun to see Fam Guy characters reimagined as ones from the SW universe. And in any case, Star Wars is so pervasive within popular culture that even those who don't follw the series will get most of the references.

"We have seen it twice now, second time in 2D. Just as enjoyable. I too feel it was a bit rushed, as commented earlier almost non stop action. After eps 1-3 though almost anything would have been better."

I've seen it twice in 2D. Was 3D better or did it detract from the story?

Comet,

We first saw it in 3D but the effects were a bit distracting, so  seeing it in 2D we were able to follow the film itself. 3D is very good and if you see it again try it now you have probably got the storyline sussed.

I went to see the film in 3D last week. Not really being a Star Wars fan I found the film enjoyable but nothing special.

Two nights ago I got round to watching a film that I recorded over the holiday period called 'Kinky Boots'. I had heard of it but was unaware that it is a real gem. I have now ordered the DVD of it to give to my daughter. If you like Ealing comedies and Local Hero you will enjoy Kinky Boots.

Some of the most hilarious wooden acting I've seen in years. Watch Harrison Ford reading off autocue for the first three minutes of his entrance. Not seen anything like that for years. Several others too.

Overall an enjoyable way to spend two hours but at least 20 minutes too long and, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, the plot is simply a reprise of the original writ large.

Agree about the plot reprise. Music was similar too, like it was 1977 all over again. Did enjoy the Dan Craig cameo though.

Am a fan of the Phantom era.. Gave insight to medichlorians   and other esoteric nonsense of the Star Wars universe.

my only gripe was that there was not any pre-curser to the TIE fighter.

lots of TIE fighters in this film though.

Saw it last night on a huge and thunderous big screen.

Left having enjoyed it but wondering if they could not have spent a little of the budget on some original plot ideas, even fresh scenes! Sequence after sequence was directly lifted from one of the original trio, albeit with a minor tweak and better acting. We actually watched the original a few nights ago, wooden does not cover it!

We liked the feisty young (British) heroine even if she reminded me a bit of Keira Knightly which is not entirely good.

hopefully the team steps out from the nostalgia and has a bit more creative energy next time. Or do we just get The Empire Fights Back Some More?
