Naim CES announcement?

Just posted to twitter by the @NaimAudio account:
"We'll be unmasking the newest character to the Naim family at @CES 2016 Sign up for more https://t.co/sM7vGcxJ2L https://t.co/urH0nkkzcz"
I'll be there..
let the speculation begin. ![]()
Given the shape of the lowest of what appear to be 3 drivers in the video, I'm guessing something Muso-ish.
A range of Naim branded ferrite cores costing 6k each with the tagline "without these, Statement sounds broken"
In that light it might be interesting to have a mobile device from Naim - beating Astell & Kern and the likes....
but it will need a 555ps and a Burndy to micro USB adapter lead.
My total guess? a 3way muso-ette mono speaker, designed for use as a pair in stereo, or for surround tv use. Lets put a price point of £499 per unit on it.

This and Muso would work as a center speaker and hub in home theatre configuration.
I imagine, and hope, that it's the mini mu-so, which has been a not very well kept secret for a while. It will be just the job for our kitchen, and hopefully just one will be required. Do we get a free one if our guess is right?

Has George joined R&D?
Chris
A portable mini-muso?
Seems likely although it would have been nice had it been a soundbar
Expansions to the Mu-so range with Reference and Statement versions of it ![]()
More seriously, I wonder whether we should expect the announcement of a single new item or whether we'll be lucky and get 2+?
If it's Mu-so related then I guess that means Chinese manufacture, so an increase in Naim equipment not manufactured in UK...
A stand alone speaker system like the Devialet Phantoms with streaming etc.?
What's interesting from the picture is what looks to be a 'curved cube' The multi direction of the 4 speakers - the two larger pointing out and the 'tweeters' centred but aligning with the paired direction of the larger speakers, all over a bass driver - differs from the flat wall of sound look of the Muso. It will be interesting to see this and any other tweaks that come out.
A single stereo speaker? ![]()

That is my impression also.
Underwater muso-
"we go anywhere"
looks like some kind of Mu-So to me, very nice.
Good that Naim's products are moving in the direction that gives Sonos a run for their money.
Naim is a 25 Million GBP turnover business
Sonos has sold 500 million dollars worth of kit.
Seems like a no brainer to me.
"experience the next step in our journey to bring the Naim sound into any space in your home"
Something akin to a Sonos Play1 or 3....Or 5.... At $299 please ![]()
Am I the only one who thinks that Muso (good or not) and possibly this new product are not the direction for Naim to go in? The whole Muso thing smells like something handed down from the new investors.
"Thou shall make something with greater mass appeal at a lower cost to be sold on the Apple store."
Don't get me wrong. I use a soundbar for the TV in the bedroom. It's not Naim but then I want Naim to focus on hifi rather than Linn-esque lifestyle products.

I think that the world has changed. When I started my interest in music there was no such thing as CD or Internet or Bluetooth. At onetime I had a Sony Walkman that I had a portable speaker system for. If I was a teenager now I would be looking at wireless speakers. Then I might be tempted by whatever else the brand that I bought made. And now, If my life wasn't disjointed, I would probably be looking at something that played music into my bedroom or kitchen.

Absolutely spot on...the world is changing and we cannot stand still.....we are in the business of selling, not a charity, nor a hobbyist meeting point....this will be a game changer for us....
I'm seeing something akin to the Linn Isobriks that I owned in a previous lifetime in the video, but more cuboid in shape.
It's obviously the S200 that was rumoured a few years ago but never appeared... until now ??
Or possibly something that can be mounted in the boot (that's trunk) of your car... so breaking away from the exclusively Bentley connection and opening up the Volkswagon market ? (Well, us VW owners need a reason to keep living.)

You may have stuck upon a possible name with that; the "Naim Akin-To". Kinda goes with the Mu-so nomenclature? Okay, maybe not ![]()
Whatever it is, does not appear to be an upgrade to any of my existing gear. As others speculated, likely coming out of China, FWIW.
Looks like some magic speakers?
