Naim Unitiserve laptop app issue

Posted by: antmast on 23 December 2015

Happy Holidays.

I have 1747 albums in my laptop app for the unitiserve. Occasionally the album covers for the more recent additions disappear and I can only get them back by doing a Rebuild DB in the system functions menu. Why does this happen? Should I slow down buying more?

Do youuse the laptop for storing your music? i.e. US uses it as an external 'store / share'?

No. I use 2 NAS s  for external 'stores/shares'.

What format files? if WAV have you tagged them and added an image of a cover art (jpg format) into each folder?

Alternatively do'host rescan' rather than 'rebuild' - most of the time it gets the cover arts in order. Alternative is to purge all images from the cashe and then do 'host rescan'

When I had a US-SSD I had to occasionally rescan the library to bring it all back, the service settings are quite inclusive allowing a lot to be done.

Album art was always a little hit and miss for me, I had Jpegs for all albums but they appeared as they saw fit and were different between the n-Serve App and n-Stream App as to what was shown, I never really did get to grips with that side of it.

All my rips were WAVE and when loaded into Audirvana all the Jpeg album art appeared.

US-SSD was excellent but it did seem buggy (or needed more intelligence from this user) when it came to other metadata/art issues. WAV is notoriously difficult for metadata changing, FLAC much more flexible, plenty on here regarding that side of things.
