Second Hand XPS-2

Posted by: RikkieB on 26 December 2015

I can get a XPS-2 from 2009 and wonder if it's worth to buy? It will be connected to my 272/250DR system. Maybe buy it and recap plus DR the power supply? Don't know much about the costs for such an upgrade?

Thx for your advice

Yeah. Could be. But at least we can see in the dark.

Going back to Rik's original question, the XPSDR makes a fantastic upgrade to the 272 and moves the system to another level, and of course one of the best things is that both source and preamp are upgraded at the same time.

The DR upgrade costs about £1,000. You can get an exdem XPSDR for say £3,000, which gives a context for the price to pay for a non DR unit.

What were the costs for the recapping and DR' ing the unit?

At the time (somewhere in the first half of the year) it was £960 or so, here £1390 (with a little discount). Globally, the 'new' XPS cost me €2500, which is more than I earn in one month but less than half the retail of a new unit.

Hi Guys,

Thnx for all your tips&tricks plus off-topic discussions ;-). I have not decided yet, total price (including DR upgrade) will be €3600 euro (= £2652). Meanwhile I will just enjoy my 272/250DR and think about it.
