help no sound from player,tried all the usual inputs etc it reading disc and playing but just a faint distorted sound at max volume regards

Have you tried unplugging / plugging the interconnect cable? Can you see if a different interconnect works. Is the problem across all sources (i.e., turntable, tuner, etc) or just the CDX?

Possibly, is the mute button on ?

Is the puck okay?

The little rubber rings that interface with the disc can get dirty, and slip on the disc. It's an easy job to check, and clean : )

Switch off. Unplug all including the i/c. Unplug the big link plug on the back. Plug all back on. Switch on.

No idea of the cause but the link plug re-fit when powered down can be like a hard re-set. n.b. never try undoing and re-fitting the link plug when the unit is powered up.
