Naim app: album artwork gone missing

Posted by: Nick Rich on 01 January 2016

Having had some problems with viewing artist / album info correctly in the Naim app on my iPhone, I cleared the image and UPnP caches as I used to sometimes in the old app.  This fixed the problem, but now all my album artwork has disappeared.  How do I get it back please?  I've tried resetting the app, but no luck.

Thanks for the help.

Hi again - there has been a similar thread few days ago on artwork disappearing. The same steps were applied as with you - also no improvement.

I'm starting to suspect a problem with an aplication.

@ Administrators: is this something we should be taking to the app developers at NAIM.

The app works fine for me & most other users  ........ ????
Back to Basics guys - the app can only show what the DNLA/UPnP sends it
..........  ???? ..........maybe better taking it to the developers at tWonkey

Hi Mike,

My Naim app works fine with LMS but not with Asset and we are reading issues with twonkey.

Might be a bit more complicated than the basics .......

Hi Bowers,  I understand what yr saying,  but I can't understand how the app can perform correctly with my Synology MediaSever & also Minimserver,  but does not work correctly with some (but not all) other folks on other DNLA/UPnP media servers if the problem is in the app.

I'm on the beta testing team & I would report this if I could replicate it,  but can't raise it if I can't produce the evidence.

Mike - I also tried replicating the problem by switching on Twonky Media - could not replicate it either. Looks like a peculiar set of circumstances down to an individual set up of the NAS / network / iDevice.

Well, I have managed to get my artwork back, but more by luck than anything else.

I first did a firmware update to the NAS drive, which made Twonky disappear completely!  Having found TwonkyMedia in the App Centre, I installed it, in the process getting a more up to date version.  The Naim app now displays all my artwork once again!

I'm still inclined to give Minim a go though, since it looks very good and comes recommended by HH.  Presumably there is no reason why I cannot install this alongside Twonky?

Yes, you can install both. There is no need to pay for Minim so there is no risk. If you like it though, it's good to make a donation. Why not just give it a go?

Minimserver wonderful. Well worth the effort to install and configure it. Not had a problem since changed to it running on Synology NAS (from NS01) 18m ago.

Hi Adam,

thx for your research.

To add the problem description;

My collection is about 4500 albums; with 4400 of them there is no albumart issue.

but with 100 (estimation) this issue showed up recently and only using Asset UPnP.

As stated before, Logitech Media Server running on the same raspi does not show any bugs in my set-up.

Replicating the problem might not be too easy as it is a minor, but persistent bug.

It would appear that it's an issue relating to the UPnP soft then...
