Very much of its time and getting a play out of curiosity and nostalgia.
Used to have this one vinyl many moons ago - long gone. Giving it a spin on Tidal - nostalgia indeed.

I was a fan of their first two albums, The Cars and Candy-O but I thought they lost the plot with Panorama which turned out to be the last one of theirs I bought and was disappointed by.

My favourite studio album of theirs.
This popped up on the random playlist in the car today.
Sounding good on the SU - WAV CD rip. Good drum sound.
On vinyl...
Beck! - Odelay
C.
Bought this on the back of liking the theme for "The Bridge" (Hollow Talk), On second listening I rather like the rest of it too.
The lyrics on the other tracks are much easier to decipher (suggesting the ambiguities in Hollow Talk are deliberate). Plenty of strings (cello and violin) and other analogue instruments augmenting a usual rock-band set-up. It's kind of like a Royskopp/Arcade Fire hybrid. No bad thing!

One of my favourite old MMEB sounding quite fine on this '98 remaster which replaced the stolen original.
Borders Nick posted:Nick you are obviously enjoying Stuart so you might want to try Distilled, another of his on the Naim label from about 2011 which sounds particularly good in 24 bit. The style is different to City, purely instrumental if I remember correctly. Thanks Stevee - I'll give it a go soon.
Sounds really good - via Tidal. Thanks for recommedation.
Both albums now on the wish list
When this album was first released I recall that a number of critics suggested Tasmin Archer was a new and significant talent who was tipped to go far. Don't know what became of her but it wasn't fame
This is a superb album, with incredible empathy between the four musicians.
Carole King, Tapestry, prompted by another excellent music programme on BBC 4 last night, "When Albums Ruled The World" which was very interesting. Flac via audirvana/Hugo
One of my lesser-played Mary Black albums but my, oh, my it's sounding damn fine this evening through the still-running-in 300DR

Thanks for your recommendation several years back. Allowing for individual taste variables, you have never led me astray.

Very delicate jazz album..
Trickydickie introduced me to Diana Panton (not literally, though I'm sure she's very nice) and I've grown to really like her stuff. She has an amazingly unaffected and open style - well worth investigating.
Fancied some late(ish) night jazz - fits the bill perfectly
