What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Haven't played this album in so many years.

Another album I haven't played in ages.

Seems to be sounding particularly fine this evening.
This is one of my MUST listen to albums that I get out every few weeks. Americana folk with a bit of very nice Mex/Spanish, recorded live studio sessions in DSD, raw, alive, like you're sitting in the studio Absolutely enthralling.

HH... Joy division only or NewOrder included? By the way, did you like the new álbum?
The latest New Order album is ok, but will never be a classic like Closer.

This Blues rock album is kinda hitting a spot tonight. For those who haven't heard about him before he has been a stalwart of the Canadian Blues Rock scene for a good number of years.

Just a plug for a great new talent who serves an awesome beer at my local, she really is very good. Go you great Kiwi girl!
Sorry can't post image.
Apologies for the second post but here is the album cover and a link to the Pitchfork review:

Thanks again.
Been giving this a run via Tidal - pretty good ! I'll definitely revisit . Good recommendation - thanks Boddah & Jeff.
Van Halen, Fair Warning, their fourth album and, Imo, their best. Brilliant guitar without to much of the childish lyrics that infected them on later albums. Very enjoyable. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Rush, Rush, where it all began and before the professor joined them and took up song writing duties (and when they were still properly produced). I sometimes wonder where they would have gone if John had stayed on drums and if they would still have been going decades later. Very rocky and much simpler music than later albums but no less enjoyable for that. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

His two studio albums are great too. Have you checked out those? Great guitar player.

I saw him life for a couple of minutes in between other concerts on the North Sea Jazz Festival - and bought his 1st album to further explore and was heavily dissapointed.... If he hasn't changed it's not my cup of tea.

The Black Crowes. The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion. On CD from 1992. I'm listening my way through a stack of Crowes CDs I bought this weekend, this the third (great album title). I like the sound overall - it's hard hitting and genuine, anchored by powerful guitar - though not a great deal of creative diversity among the tracks. The percussion is heavy and to the fore, and can get a bit overbearing. I think I'll give myself a breather before listening to the 2CD "The Lost Crowes".

Lovely 70's style sequencer driven electronic music. Berlin School.

PJ Harvey. Uh Huh Her. On CD from 2004. Took some repeated listening (spurred on by PJ supporters here) but I've come to appreciate this album. Still think PJ could force a smile on her album covers ![]()
PJ Harvey is an acquired taste, but a bit like a good scotch one acquired its there to savour and appreciate....

Green Day. Nimrod. On HDCD from 1997. Power-packed 18 track album with a singular acoustic track. I wonder if "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" isn't the punk/alternative generations equivalent of The Beatles' "Yesterday"?

Their best to date, really good punchy post-rock album.
