2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
múm - Yesterday was dramatic, Today is OK.
A great start to a sunny day off.

One of the first albums I ever bought and still my favourite Beach Boys album. Consistently good tracks all the way through, it surprised me to find out that their initial contract demanded that they release ten new albums in just three years!
Streaming this one via Deezer its a remaster with both the original Mono and later Stereo version.

Another great Robin Trower album with that lovely distinctive fuzzy, funky guitar sound of his.

I recently got this in a 'three for a tenner' section of the local record shop, it's a goodie.

More Robin Trower and another listen to the late John Dewar on vocals and bass who helped give the Trower "solo" albums such a distinctive sound.

Keith is more than just a pretty boy/mainstream country star, he plays a pretty mean guitar, as in this YouTube of Keith Urban and James Taylor's backing band playing JT's "Country Road":
Keep meaning to listen to more of his albums

Hi Ewen, my two personal favorites are "Defy Gravity" and "Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing". Has a new release "Ripcord" due by summer and a huge worldwide tour to support that release. I shall probably never see him live as I don't enjoy arenas and stadiums. He has a good dvd called "Livin' Right Now" which is a great live show at the Weltern Theatre in L.A. IMO a very decent singer/songwriter and plays a mean guitar - that is a formula that gets my attention. But so little time to find and hear them all. It is what remains of my life's work. Thanks for all your help the past 13 years. regards, Jeff A

* Edit: Just to correct my error I was referring to the late James Dewar, not John Dewar as mentioned.

Possibly my last 'Trower for tonight, this was the first of his solo albums and features much great guitar work from him, excellent stuff.

Anyone that's a fan of Electronic music with female vocals..this Albums a peach.
Yagya. The inescapable decay of my heart.

Crosby Loggins "Time To Move", continuing with the "son of" theme, Kenny's son

Harper Simon "Harper Simon", first of two releases by the son of Paul Simon and Edie Brickell.
Will interesting to see him further ripping...., on this album now on the main system, some pieces are just too fast...

'It Never Entered My Mind' by Chet Baker
from 'Alone Together' ... excellent for winding down after work

Jakob Dylan "Women & Country" , son of Bobby Z
Wasn't sure after first couple of listens, but Part Two of this is definitely growing on me. Part One will need some more listening.

1st run - his tone is delicious...

Scriabin performed by Vladimir Sofronitsky, his son-in-law. Magnificent and haunting at the same time. Highly recommended.

Sublime performance of Schwanengesang - not least through the contribution of the world's best song accompanist: Malcolm Martineau. On CDR from download.
cheers, EJ
