2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

It seems unnecessary to diss Morrissey when posting that you are enjoying Jeff Buckley. It's not really in the spirit of the thread.

I didn't diss him Nigel, just said that Jeff didn't sound like him, and implied I was grateful for that small mercy

Yes, but you get the point - I'm not going to say that I'm listening to Diana Krall and thank goodness she doesn't sound like X, Y or Z. It's just not the done thing.

You might do, surely, if someone had previously said that she sounded like Frank Zappa?  I doubt Morrisey would care very much what I think, or that him ot sounding like Jeff Buckle will spoil anyone's enjoyment of the thread but I take your point

I'll not make any more references to The Smiths - it just causes trouble !

This one bears no resemblance to anything Smiths - related (I hope)

The debut solo album from probably the greatest singer of the past thirty years. It's made even better by the fact that he sounds nothing like Jeff Buckley.

Actually, I bought Grace when it was released. I tried and tried to like it, but just couldn't. I have no idea why, as he had a fantastic voice. I've got nearly all of his father, Tim's, albums and love them and perhaps assumed that I'd like Jeff as much.

If you haven't heard Tim's Dream Letter - Live in London, it's just wonderful. And, as a bonus it sounds nothing like Morrissey.

I've not played Moz's Viva Hate for about ten years and was only prompted to by this thread. Hilary hates his 'droning on' voice, but she's out shopping in Southsea.... While I think the Smiths were totally marvellous, and got better and better, Morrissey's albums, after Viva Hate and Bona Drag, which are in my view brilliant, just seemed to get worse and worse as time wore on. It's such a shame, as a lyricist he is virtually peerless, but without the music of Johnny Marr, it was downhill all the way.
