What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
This is nothing like Morrissey, or Jeff Buckley. Nonetheless, it's very good.

Hungryhalibut posted:Actually, I bought Grace when it was released. I tried and tried to like it, but just couldn't. I have no idea why, as he had a fantastic voice. I've got nearly all of his father, Tim's, albums and love them and perhaps assumed that I'd like Jeff as much.
If you haven't heard Tim's Dream Letter - Live in London, it's just wonderful. And, as a bonus it sounds nothing like Morrissey.
I've not played Moz's Viva Hate for about ten years and was only prompted to by this thread. Hilary hates his 'droning on' voice, but she's out shopping in Southsea.... While I think the Smiths were totally marvellous, and got better and better, Morrissey's albums, after Viva Hate and Bona Drag, which are in my view brilliant, just seemed to get worse and worse as time wore on. It's such a shame, as a lyricist he is virtually peerless, but without the music of Johnny Marr, it was downhill all the way.
My friend is a huge Smith's fan and, obviously, a fan of Morrisey, but it is Johnny Marr he rates the most - considers him to be a genius. He was in the Chairman's lounge a few weeks ago at Man City's ground and Johnny Marr was in there which made his night. I can hear why in the music, and I recognise the song writing but despite my best efforts I can't take to Morrrisey's voice. I like Jeff in small doses but he's a bit too full in at times.

On in separate rooms
That will be confusing as you go from one to the other....

Fancied listening to something with high energy before I play something in memory of the late Mr Emerson.

Certainly a very good album, very sad that Keith Emerson died just a couple of days ago, he was an incredible talent...

In memory of a very special pianist.
After suffering from Pneumonia on my 50th birthday a couple of weeks ago we have finally got around to drinking our Bollinger, which goes jolly well with Bad Animals by Heart, who we have tickets to watch twice later this year. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Watching a Heart concert on TV now. Those ladies are very talented.
We saw them a few years ago and they were very good indeed, as you say, very talented

Original vinyl...
Listening to a tidal shuffle of these 2 albums reviewed in the papers recently.

Even though The Goon Sax have a 5 star guardian review I'm veering towards Little Grren Cars being the "keeper"
