2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
On CD:-

Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings And Food
This is getting a lot of play at the moment - Blue Note debut from Logan Richardson. Not a bad band he has put together for the CD, with Jason Moran and Pat Metheny

(1998)
I remember when I first bought this thinking that it turned out to be better than I was expecting.

Carrie Rodriguez & The Sacred Hearts - Lola
I have been working my way through the recent King Crimson Thrak Box containing all sorts from the 94-97 era Crimson - concerts, outtakes, remixes, hi-res etc etc. Best of the Crimson boxes to date.

just finishing: Mike Mainieri "Wanderlust"
next: Bud Powell "Jazz Giant" 2016 Stereophile R2D4

Some music before my concert this evening...

Vinyl...
Chicago Live in Japan.
Far superior recording to Chicago IV (Live at Carnegie Hall). A must for all Chicago fans!

(2015)
Released in November this album is a real treat whether you are a ZZ fan or not.
ON ECM Miroslav Vitous Group with John Surman, Kenny Kirkland and Jon Christensen
Bit of retro - original vinyl. 1978 - where have the years gone.

A silly reason, I know, but when I settled down with a cup of tea which was in my recently purchased Led Zep I themed mug (HMV do them and others), I thought I'd give the album a play ![]()
First run of this - arrived today. CD rip WAV

This is the first release of all previously unreleased Larry Young recordings in nearly 40 years, and features Woody Shaw (trumpet), Nathan Davis (saxophone) and Billy Brooks (drums).
Resonance Records, 2xLPs - great pressings, flat and quiet.

Timeless, wonderful music

Caught the film on TV the other week - very entertaining. Music was good too.
I had no idea this existed until I saw it posted on here by Haim last week. It's completely wonderful.

Original vinyl...

Not one of his better discs.

Now this is classic Otis.
