2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Listened to last night. posted to complete the order of albums with Fish. I'll probably play it again today.

Very enjoyable on this lovely and sunny afternoon.

Original vinyl... great album and a bargain of the moment on the River for just over a tenner plus P&P.
Good shout..............streaming it at the mo' (see what I did there?), on Tidal.
Good, isn't it? ![]()
More Fish!!
Kind of apt as I am going to clean the pond filters now ![]()

A good new album, via Qobuz Streaming...

Rush, Signals. I was 17 when this album came out and used to Moving Pictures and Rush in their prog days and instantly detested it, which just goes to show how stupid you can be when you are young because I can see now that it is not only a musical masterpiece but also the step they needed to move firmly into the 80s and beyond. Worth a listen if only for the beautiful 'Losing It' Neil's finest hour as a lyricist in my opinion and a sublime piece of music. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo and sq good enough to justify a minor obsession on hifi over the last couple of years

I was playing this in the car yesterday & now at home marvelling at the raw power of the drums on "When the Levee breaks"
Nick,
There's been a bit written about the sound of the drums on that track. Greg Milner discusses it in his book "Perfecting Sound Forever ...". If you have interest, the Wikipedia page for "When the Levee Breaks" provides details on the recording of the drums.
Interesting article Joe - thanks for the reference. It's one of my favourite Zeppelin tracks.

(March 2016)
Downloaded yesterday and playing this great throwback to the late sixties psychedelic scene around San Francisco. Good stuff.

Jackson Browne. Standing In The Breach. On CD from 2015. First listen. It's a respectable effort that finds Jackson striking a balance between his accessible tunesmithing of the 70's and his latter political messages. He sticks primarily to his lower vocal range throughout. There's plenty of steel/slide guitar and several immediately likable tracks that, no doubt, The Eagles of yesteryear could have turned into pure gold.
Not at all familiar with Jackson Browne's stuff - but I am certainly enjoying this, relaxing after work. Nice recommendation Joe - thanks. Via Tidal.

(2014)
This one fragmented the fan base somewhat but in my view its very good progressive rock that's going down very nicely with a G&T. ![]()

Don't know whether you spotted my earlier recommend for Michael Burks.........Make it Rain?

Strangely, it has been removed from Tidal over the last few days, so I've ordered it from the river, as it's so good.
The blues are dead...............not!
Dave.

Josh Rouse "The Best Of The Rykodisc Years" disc 2 - with NCAA hoops in the background with no sound
Loving the track 'Emily'
Great sounding album...

Matthew Perryman Jones "Throwing Punches In The Dark"
Original 10" vinyl. I started thinking about them for some reason:

Yep, many thanks, Joe. I found that article interesting too. I'll be thinking about that article when I next play 'When the Levee Breaks'. Nice one.
