What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Jackson Browne. Standing In The Breach. On CD from 2015. First listen. It's a respectable effort that finds Jackson striking a balance between his accessible tunesmithing of the 70's and his latter political messages. He sticks primarily to his lower vocal range throughout. There's plenty of steel/slide guitar and several immediately likable tracks that, no doubt, The Eagles of yesteryear could have turned into pure gold.
Not at all familiar with Jackson Browne's stuff - but I am certainly enjoying this, relaxing after work. Nice recommendation Joe - thanks. Via Tidal.
Gave this a second spin tonight. It's a solid album, enough so that my wife commented she also liked it.
Nick - As you enjoyed "Standing In The Breach" I'd recommend sampling "Looking East" from 1996 or any of Browne's 1970's albums.
Listened to two Bill Evans albums during my workout. While I like it, I am not completely sold into the brilliance like some other people..

The first time I hear this version. Less playful, but more playing with fading away tones, not bad...

Beck. Guero. On CD from 2005. First listen. Musically a good album that's heavy on production and with an overall feel not distant from "Odelay". The modern SQ is impressive with a very wide soundstage and bass compression enough to make me think I've suddenly got a subwoofer.
Amazing purity of sound. (Trying to banish any thoughts of marriage to cousins
). CD rip.

UK first press vinyl. A stonking LP (UK version of The Delta Sweete) in nice condition, acquired over the weekend.

Giving this one a run this morning - some nice tracks. Couple of TP's Heartbreakers playing on it - often a good sign - and Bonnie Raitt also. Tidal

Spurred on by JOERAND's earlier post. Great SQ on this one. CD rip

Also spurred on by the apparently highly influential JoeRand:

Brad Mehldau - his first solo piano album I believe. A little low key for me but still pleasant. CD rip.

Need to get things moving again prior to going out to tackle the garden again. Love Ginger Bakers drumming on this track. CD rip.

I do like to get this one out every now and then, the guitar work of Tony McPhee on the title track(s) in particular was just so different at the time .

Quite a mixture, on vinyl...

On CD:-

1969 compilation album when they were still playing some decent blues.
Original vinyl...

Another one recommended by my son and this one is a real belter. Foy Vance is from Northern Ireland but you would never guess listening to him. You will swear you are listening to one of the finest blues/gospel singers from the deep South of the US. He flits between Blues, Gospel and then throws in some folk all underpinned with a dollop of Soul. If that appeals you will love this one and I urge you to give it a whirl, it is on Tidal.

1967 Original vinyl - Mono

1967 Original vinyl - Stereo.

(2013)
Thoroughly good progressive rock mixed up with metal, they have become one of my favourite modern era bands in recent years.

On vinyl...brilliant stuff!

Riverside's singer, writer and bass guitarist Mariusz Duda has been making some great albums as a side project, this is perhaps the best to date.
