A great album - the deluxe "fat boy" double  CD has lots of out-takes and also live tracks from a 1977 Regents Park gig .

Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, very few albums have as much mood and angst as this which remains one of the all time great rock albums for me.  24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Jimmy Page & Robert Plant. Walking Into Clarksdale. On CD from 1998. First listen. Heavy, busy, and aggressive with no quarter. Will require some successive listens to get a grasp on the music.

The Rolling Stones. Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967). On hybrid SACD from 2002 (I'm listening to the Redbook side). A recent post by Tony inspired my spin tonight, Certainly the most eclectic of Stones' albums, but I like it for the same reasons I enjoy early Pink Floyd. Mick's vocals are uniquely trippy yet soulful throughout.

Robert Plant. Fate Of Nations. On CD from 1993. First listen. Having just given a first listen tonight to Page & Plant's "Walking Into Clarksdale" I'd call "Fate Of Nations" a much more coherent and musically accessible album.

Another one recommended by my son and this one is a real belter. Foy Vance is from Northern Ireland but you would never guess listening to him. You will swear you are listening to one of the finest blues/gospel singers from the deep South of the US. He flits between Blues, Gospel and then throws in some folk all underpinned with a dollop of Soul. If that appeals you will love this one and I urge you to give it a whirl, it is on Tidal.

Nigel

A new one for me - it is indeed a real belter, exactly as you describe.  Played it last night and giving it another run this morning.  Your son has good taste !
