2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

An album I just couldn't quite get into maybe worth another punt.

Amazing!
+1 : Haitian Divorce - one of my favourite tracks.
Marvellous record - I've owned it ever since it was released all those years ago. It's playing now, prompted by seeing it here.
Charles Lloyd - Wild Man Dance.
Giving this a go for the first time on Tidal. I really like his more "conventional" ECM albums (Canto, Voice in the Night, Water is Wide, Mirror) but this is too abstract for me.
Not played this in yonks...great album.

My first full album listen on Tidal during my workout, pretty good - and enjoyable to explore something which is new for me...
I haven't heard this album, like this evening. The Fraim does have a major positive impact on the sound...

Actually the whole album is pure class!

One of the better modern prog bands around. This is their latest released in October '15 and re-ripped this afternoon now that it has finally appeared on the accurate rip database, when it was first released I had to burst rip it just so that it could be played.
Recent purchases, first listen. Creedence Clearwater Revival:
Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Green River
All Hybrid SACDs. The only album I have had is 'Chronicle', and have never got around to the others. Periodically there is a reminder on this thread. Had some extra $ + a sale, so decided to start with the first albums.
Now: Carolina Chocolate Drops & Joe Thompson
(2008) CD. Recorded live at Merlefest, 2008.
This recording delivers on the promise on the cover, natural sound..
Probably the greatest of the Canadian Folk Balladers', Stan Rogers. Perfect way to start a Saturday when it is -28C outside.

Vinyl is apprently better as the cd was when I heard the pre release badly compressed. Had to give it away as my eardrums were bleeding. Typical modern mastering.
Thanks for the confirmation. Very frustrating...
Well, this is not good news. I suppose a download would not be better than the CD then?

I need to give credit to joerand and his postings from 4 January + a nicely time email coupon.
Exploring a bit of Tidal, I don't like this album so much, so it will not end on my buying list...
Sad that they have only two relevant number on Tidal of this album....

Couldn't find the above on Tidal but am listening to the following and very good it is too.

Their fourth album that, for me, was sadly the last decent record they made. I bought their 2014 North Star album which disappointed, nothing gets close to those very early '70s releases.
Via Tidal same style as the other albums, in my feeling not as good. And always a tendency of depression in the way the music is brought accross...
Not sure about this one. Will listen a bit more. Has promise though.
I like the Holly Cole album, a recomendation from Miles Smiles if memory serves.
our afternoon listing so far :-
Genesis - Selling England Bt The Pound
Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (2009 version)
I think I saw this on another forum in a 'what was the last CD you purchased' thread or some such, so I thought I'd give it a go. Currently streaming from Tidal.
Very good SQ by the way.

Nice to see a Stan Rogers album here.
