Always difficult to follow on from James McMurtry's style but this should do pretty well, So Far From The Clyde alone is worth the price of admission to this album.

2016 - Vinyl reissue...

Brandi Carlile "Give Up The Ghost"
A nice 1970s copy, bought last weekend:

Via Tidal, now working again on Mac Mini.
RUSH - Moving Pictures

Jamie xx - In Colour

The Smiths, How Soon is Now, proof that perseverance and listening with an open mind pays off because this is a great song. Brilliant guitar riff, great lyrics and even his voice works on it for me. I like it very much and it's on my playlist - glad I stuck at it. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Pure Pleasure reissue vinyl LP. Arrived today. For a reissue, pretty decent. Initially I was quite alarmed, because the opening track ("Mississippi Delta") seemed a bit shut in, but this is a decent remaster - expansive and showing off the spare but brilliant arrangements, along with BG's voice, very well. If I have a criticism so far, it's that the overall presentation is a bit "soft" and slightly lacking in edge - but that said, it's an improvement on the '67 US Capitol I have.

Astonishing funk grooves from JB's annus mirabilis of 1970. On CD:

2011CD - a little more melodic and chilled than his Sonic Youth stuff.

Original Vinyl.
Hope they work for you, Graham. They are great speakers - I know I'm biased - and would definitely suit those jazz and blues records of yours. Enjoy them!

On vinyl.

The Music Matters 4 x 45rpm LPs re-master. A nice Blue Note record all around- Donald Byrd 'the cat walk'!

Huey Lewis & The News. Sports. On vinyl from 1983. The music is good for mid-80's pop/rock and the SQ is impressive.

A beautiful, sunny, early spring morning here so on with this remastered definitive edition from 1995.

The Small Faces. British Legends. 3 CD set from 2008. Finishing my first listens to CDs 2 and 3 tonight. A wonderful collection of music from a great band. SQ-wise this set plays a bit flat/thin overall, but perhaps true to the original sound and I doubt there's been any kind of heavy remastering. That said the music is accomplished and brilliant - tight, hip, and groovy throughout. I'm surprised I don't see more posts here from this fantastic British band.
